Our Blooming Friends Swap Group (OBF) was created to have a reliable, fair and safe haven to swap and trade between group members. If you care to join us, we would love to have you. Please be a successful member of Houzz/GardenWeb and have completed a trade with two or three of our members. Membership requests should be sent to Shirley/Brittneysgran.

Please take a moment to read our rules and then, Have fun!

1. Send your swap by posted deadline for each swap.

2. No bickering. This is meant to be fun for everyone.

3. Send things that you yourself would want to receive.

4. Always include a Delivery Confirmation number and post it when you send the package.

5. Always post what you receive from your swap partner.

6. You will be required to replace a swap package that does not make it to your partner, for any reason. Also you'll be required to replace any items that arrive broken.

7. New members will be required to send their trades first, for the first two swaps.

For this Blast from the Past Swap, we will be using the heirloom seed definition of 50 years to define the past. That means anything before February 1967.

For this swap, you will send:

1. Five heirloom seeds packs. This can also include something that your parents have grown for years and saved seeds from that you are now growing and saving seeds from but doesn't have a commercial name. If this is the case, include the history if you know it, such as the seeds came from the country where their ancestors came from, etc.

2. Two items from the past in useable condition. That means anything before February 1967. There are two options for this.

This could be an old book or magazine from that time on gardening, cooking, crafting, etc, that you think your partner would enjoy or it could be that butter mold or springerle mold or eggbeater that your mother gave you that you are not using, or that embroidery sampler that you have in the closet. This could also be a plant or bulbs that your parents had grown that you are now growing, but keep in mind that this is February so think about whether the plant or bulbs will travel well to its destination and include the history! Use your imagination and see what is in your closet that you think your partner would like. Needless to say, please do not send things like 8 track tapes or cassette tapes unless you know that your partner has a player for them. When was the last time you thought about those things?

Alternatively, for those of you who have don't keep excess stuff around or who have no things from before February 1967 or don't want to give old stuff, you can still play. You can take something that started before February 1967 and send a modernized version of it or send something that people used to commonly do over 50 years ago but is much less common now. For example, a reprint or revision of a book from over 50 years ago, a DVD of a movie or TV series from that time, a DVD of a movie made from a book from that time, a CD of Beatles songs, a new butter mold, a new springerle mold, knitting needles, a sickle, Coca Cola in the glass bottles, Charms candy, a new pillbox hat, bobby socks, etc. Use your imagination and have fun.

Last day for sign ups is February 9, 2017. Please mail your package by February 21, 2017, so your partner will receive it by the end of the month.

Instead of Bingo, we will be playing Blast from the Past Password once sign ups are done. The Password game show first aired in 1961 and has since had several revivals so I thought it would be a good game to play. I will explain the rules once sign ups are done.
