Cant figure out color of couch ,wall color advice
Comments (12)if you were thinking darker-go darker:) most people think lighter:) while dark can be really cool but. take into account the size of the room-if it's much larger than what we see on photos, i wouldn't go too dark, would stay mid-range max..not that you can never go dark in big spaces, but it's already higher level to do this right..or so I feel..demands many other things whether in skills or money or both. I'd also mind the ceilings-how high are they? with darker colors, ceilings should be tinted the wall color..ever so slightly if they're 9 or 10 feet..but I'd say greater proportion is needed if they are standard. otherwise this white ceiling on top of four much darker walls starts looking and feeling like a lid on the pot-too high a contrast on too short a space. crown moldings can help a lot though and make this transition smoother-that lifts the lower ceiling up as well (not to give a wrong impression- you can paint ceiling a different color too. it's just that few people dare. )...See MoreLiving room suggestions - TV placement, couch/chair style/layout?
Comments (8)Their current lay out block traffic flow. I would much rather go with a love seat and a few comfy chairs. How many in your family. That is how many seats you need. The rest is over kill and does anyone actually FILL a huge sectional or do three people use it? I am just not a fan. As for the TV placement, most want a visual of both the fireplace and the TV so your plan seems to be a decent option. The built in would be worth looking at...It is ironic how often the MOSTLY unused fireplaces everyone desires really messes with furniture arranging. Your new floors are to die for. This gray fad confuses me. Gray is cold, like stainless. Your kitchen and flooring are so warm and rich looking. Half your new space is painted warm the other cool... Which colors will you embrace?...See MoreYour advice on color and style of sofa in family room
Comments (7)Here are the issues I see: you want to modernize your furniture and make it more comfortable for all to sit in AND stylish as well. I also see from your picture that your kitchen appears to be a modern design so that helps with the whole "open" design. I would suggest you tear out the room divider that separates the family / dining room and make this one large space....make it feel more open. You will have to buy a new dining set to compliment your new family room furniture for consistency to your design space, especially in one very large room. You can keep the one chair with the floral print: just re-upholster this piece in a more contemporary print or a leather; I love to mix in some pieces like this with a contemporary sofa. Be careful in buying less expensive pieces like a sofa from some chain stores: they may look good but the insides are usually cheap and will wear out faster. Splurge on a good sofa....you will be happier in the long run with it. And with your family room larger now (with the wall divider out) you will need to purchase a larger area rug to go into your family room to make this room feel like its own room in the open space. And the vents that are in the wall divider can be moved. Good luck....See MoreAdvice on color for sofa bed
Comments (16)(love those prints) in terms of colos..if I see the color of the chair correctly on my monitor.. -light gray (slightly cooler shades) -darker gray, also cooler shades(slate?) -black and white..or just white -indigo blue depends on how "energetic" you want the room to feel...See MoreRelated Professionals
