Can I mix chair styles and sizes at a 54" round dining table?
Comments (2)I have a 54" round table that I love. We use it with 4 matching chairs - so I can't really answer your question. BUT I can tell you that finding tablecloths for this size is difficult. 70" is too big and 90" is too small. If you love tablecloths, be forewarned. :) But 54" is a great size in all other respects!...See Moreis a 72 inch round table too big for my dining room
Comments (15)I have a DR that is almost 13' square so mine is close to your size. My DR table (without leaves) is almost exactly 56" square. It looks great when no one is eating at it, but even without putting in a leaf (it will seat 5 a bit crowded, 4 better), it is hard to get around. I have a small sideboard on one wall, a chest on another wall, and no furniture on the 3rd/4th walls and it's still crowded. Serving is a nightmare as I cannot get behind the chairs to go around the table. If I put in a leaf (my leaves are about 24" wide), I can seat 6 comfortably. One Christmas, I had to put in 2 leaves, and the people at the end, well, one had his chair practically in the entrance into the LR, and the other was up against the french doors that lead to outside - it was awful and this was to seat 9 people! I cannot imagine how you can possibly use your table in this room, or any other table and hope to seat 10 people. It's just not big enough. It takes a BIG DR to hold a table that can seat 10 comfortably. My DD has a DR that is 15' x 16 1/2'. Her table is 52" wide and if she uses small chairs, she can seat two at each end and with two leaves in her table (a triple pedestal table), she can seat 4 down each side, thus 12 in total. One time, she seated 14 - it was very cramped - no b&b plates, single wine glass in the table setting....See More@natesgram Question about Tablecloth Curtains
Comments (7)Absolutely! I received such great information when I was doing these that I'm more than happy to share. My tablecloths were from Bed Bath & Beyond, see link attached. I needed something light, easy to open/close, and privacy. These work well for us, plus I like that they can be washed rather than drycleaned. The size I purchased was 70x104. I used 11 rings on each panel (make sure one is on the other side of the end support) and they were about 7" apart. We hung our rod right under the moulding on a fairly thin rod extending past the windows about 10". They were about 4" too long so instead of taking them back down, I pulled my ironing board over and used heatbond iron-on tape, the lazy way. I think there are probably so many tablecloths with great patterns that would be so easy and fun to use. Since our room is small I decided to go with white but I'm still going to keep a look out for a great patterned one. Here are a couple pics. The last two I took with my phone tonight so they are a little off. Here is a link that might be useful: McKenna tablecloths...See MoreHelp Designing Our Dining Room - Round or Rectangle?
Comments (7)A round will likely work better with the shape and function of the space. Often laying out the shapes and sizes can be helpful to see how it will look in the space. Using cardboard, painters tape, blankets, etc can help simulate the table. We often suggest 24" per person for elbow room. Then as far as wall or furniture clearance, a minimum of about 30-36". If you have more room that that, even better. A 70" round will fit 8-10 people. Chairs size and level of individual comfort will impact the space allowed per person, but this size will function well.
