Decorating around a baby grand piano in a small living room
Comments (24)We also turned our small living room into a music room. I think formal living rooms are a waste of space. Over the years, I have had the piano either half-way open or closed w/ photos on top. Fully open seems too much for the size of the room. I have a big chair in one corner and a 5'? potted silk plant in another. Our room opens up to the foyer/stairs and the dining room. In our last house, the piano was in a great room and we had a round, skirted ottoman in the curve ( a designer recommended that). The top was kind of pleated w/ one button in the center. Good luck!...See MoreLiving Room Furniture Advice with 6' Grand Piano
Comments (11)I recently went through this when we did a first floor remodel. I moved my 5'10" grand across our foyer to a smaller room and was not happy with the placement in the room. A few weeks ago I borrowed a floor template from a local piano store and used it to make my own template out of poster board. I then moved all of the furniture out of the room and moved the template around the room. The piano should not be near windows or heat vents as that will adversely affect the soundboard and finish. It is strongly suggested that the straight side of the piano be against a wall with the lid opening into the room or at a 45 degree angle to a corner. Using the template was the only way that I was able to determine the correct placement and how it would work with the furniture. It took a couple of weeks before I decided and then called the piano movers back to get it into place. Unless you have helpers and experience moving the piano, I suggest that you get a professional to do this so that you do not damage the legs. It looks like your buffet wall may work for the piano with a simplified arrangement of chairs around a coffee table or two sofas or loveseats flanking the fireplace....See MoreHelp with small room.and a baby grand
Comments (13)My sister has a 7’ grand. Some how my DBIL figured out how he could get under it on his hands and knees and raise up each leg a little at a time while Sister then slipped a cloth pad of some sort under each leg. After each leg had a pad under it, they could scoot it around without a great deal of effort. In their current house, the piano is upstairs in the bonus room. Movers put it up there without damaging the house or the piano. Nevertheless, my sister could not stand to watch....See MoreAnyone installed Coretec Grande Petronas or Grande Lotte, Pictures?
Comments (220)Thank you to everyone who posted pictures of their projects! We've looked at sooooo many different samples of SPC, WPC, Laminate flooring and the more you look, the more confused you get. We have FINALLY decided we like the Coretec Petronas Oak best of all and I loved being able to see what the floor will look like (and not just a sample board!). For those that have had this floor installed now for a while ... are you still happy with your choice? How hard is it to keep clean, is is slippery to walk on (the sample feels like it has some kind of coating on top that handles some of the slip hazards), and most importantly, how has it held up to scratches and spills? Thanks so much for all of your input!!!...See Moremayhemingway
