Would you buy hardwood flooring from China? (Tradewinds hardwood)

We've been looking for hardwood flooring for quite some time. I was wanting something eco friendly and as non toxic as possible. Laying natural hardwood and staining it in our existing home isn't something we want to attempt as I couldn't find an acceptable low/no voc stain and finish option. So we looked at pre-finished flooring.

We recently saw a Tradewinds - Durango hardwood floor that is just what we are looking for, however it is manufactured in China. (Birch wood, hand scraped, stained and finished in China.) Are there still quality / material concerns with products like this coming form China? Has anyone heard of or used this product?

I have not heard of that brand but we purchased the Bella Cera Ruscello flooring and when the boxes showed up it said the dreaded "Made in China" on them. What could I do at that point? We had it installed and are very happy. There is not one piece in the 1100 sq ft that has a flaw. Now, it has only been a few months, but no problems so far...

And we also did about 60 sq ft of LM St Laurent flooring in our vanity area almost 2 years ago, it was "Made in China", which I did not know until later, no problems with it either.

If you can afford it, it's worth helping local businesses, I ordered my mahogany hardwood floors from them and I am delighted!

I have Chesapeake engineered flooring, installed in 2013. DO NOT INSTALL IT! Choose something more substantial. I have had to file a claim, which was denied, because the veneer is peeling off. The company has terrible customer service and does not stand behind this inferior product.

Yeah one finished room. (Of course still full of dust) They finished our bedroom yesterday. Still have to enventually come back and do the closet, but for now have moved on to the great room. camlan..Their doing the same thing here. Running the wood with no seams from room to room. I hope ours eventually "glow" right now they just glow of dust, but it still is looking nice. judydel. I like to buy rugs at TJ Max HomeGoods. Patty Cakes.. Oh no. The stairs is what inspired us to do this hardwood job. We just finished painting the stairs yesterday. The carpet that was on the stairs was old, dirty and ugly. It had to come up. My kids are teenagers, so hopefully safety wont be an issue. We'll see if they become too loud, etc., we can always eventually add a runner to them. beth..Your floors, rugs and house are beautiful. Yes, it is being installed perpendicular. I know it's not the ideal... but in the interest of time and budget, it's what we've landed on. We are likely going to do an engineered floor on top, to eliminate a little bit of the extra height. I would (just for my own knowledge on what to expect) love to hear the cons of this method, even if we're likely to do it anyway :) And it is a wood subfloor - so just add plywood ontop of that until it becomes flush is what I'm hearing. Thank you!

Hello- I am not Kathy, but I got a notification since I am also in this conversation. We installed our Monarch floors May of 2018 (Novana line/color Nebbia) and I have been extremely happy with them. We put them in our entire house (2700 square feet) and they look just as nice as they did when first installed. I just vacuum them regularly/spot mop if something spills and mop everywhere with recommended wood floor cleaner about once a month. We did have issue with our stairs when they were being installed with batches matching. The stair caps (not sure correct term) did not match the batch the rest of the floor boards were. In hindsight, I would have made sure they opened the boxes and made sure the batch for the stairs matched the batch we had everywhere else, since colors can slightly vary. Monarch worked great with our installer, though and it ended up working out fine... just caused a little delay. Good luck! Amy
