Update on Madame Anisette Rose
Comments (6)I gave up on Madame Anisette last year. Never bloomed. Grew like a telephone pole. I may have gotten a dud. It got a great spot to grow in, and dutiful care. I may try it again in the future after the reports from many folks start to paint the true picture of this rose. At my age I should have learned by now not to rush into putting a new rose into my bed regardless of the marketing hype. I have always fallen for a pretty face, rose or female! My one and only rose bed is 8' X 18' and every spot in it must have a satisfactory rose or out it comes to make room for a better candidate. Chamblee's removed it from their inventory. A good rose does not get the boot by Mark, at Chamblee's for no reason. He gave the same boot to Summer Romance and Zaide recently, too. Both of these were duds for me. There are some great Kordes roses though, just not these in my garden. Moses...See MoreWhat's wrong with my Earth Angel Rose bush leaves?
Comments (16)Yes KS I agree, it's been a month since I've done the bayer disease control, as it was treated once at the beginning of the season, and the Epsom salts haven't been given for two weeks. The 1 tbsp per gallon wasn't given to just the EA plant; the gallon was spread between 8 potted roses as a foliar feed. Is that too high for a foliar spray anyway? Should one only use a teaspoon for a foliar spray? Just curious if that may have been too high a formula for a foliar spray? I haven't done much to my Heirloom roses since their instructions say to let it be. I was certainly suspecting the rain, or wondering if it actually needed something since it's pretty much been left alone besides the epsom salt. I will say we had 90 degree weather in May which is unusual and then went to cool 60's and constant rain. Very irregular weather. Thanks for your help as I agree with letting it be for now. The yellow leaves are spreading throughout the bush today and hopefully when it stops raining it will get better. I think I may block the rain from the bush in an effort to ease its maladies sooner. I do have two EA's potted up and they have both been treated the same way. The other one does not have any issues though even with the rain, so it's definitely a mystery to me....See MoreEarth Angel, Huntington Rose, Munstead Wood, Like No Other...
Comments (16)@sbrklyn_7bny Thank you. I agree that Earth Angel is such a beautiful rose that it's justifiable to have more than one. @Kristine LeGault 8a pnw Thank you Kristine. I think K&M have Dave's roses now even though they haven't listed them on their website but they did mention them on their Facebook account. @berrypie7 Thank you. The secret to a good picture is only capturing the best moment/angle. My garden has overgrown weeds like most other gardens but I love mine with weeds and all, lol. Comments (14)where are you in z5... its about half the US and very divergent ....does your ground freeze?? in my z5 MI.. i would have to cut it to about 6 to 8 inches.. bury it in mulch and cover with a rose cone .... watch for very warm zone suggestions.. if you dont cut it back.. winter winds will most likely kill it back to snow cover.. or lower... hence the rose cones and mulch ... your plant looks like its planted very deep... cant really see properly in the pix... if so.. it might not thrive properly... why it MIGHt be struggling... the usual suspect for winter problems in colder zones .... is prevailing winter winds.. and sun.. the canes thawing during warmish winter sunny days.. and refreezing ... even freeze drying during the night... i used to say.. a plant has a sense of humor about it the first time it happens.. is rather upset the second time it happens showing significant damage.. and will just about outright die the third time... and it seems you do not have some little winter wind free micro climate.. in that first pic.. looks sorta prairie like... i bet the winds whip thru there when the corns gone.. if in fact that is corn over there... fertilizer is never really a remedy for anything.... applied properly.. it rarely hurts.. as long as you stop by 9/1 in z5.. but it seldom ever fixes a problem ... ken...See Morenoseometer...(7A, SZ10, Albuquerque)
