I installed a sea glass tile floor in our shower like the river stone pebbles. I was told the glass wouldn't get slippery like the natural stone might get because they retain the moisture. it is very pretty, but the glass pebbles are cracking for no apparent reason and continue to crack. I am guessing it is because the room temperature is cool and when the hot water hits the shower floor the glass expands and cracks. has anyone had this problem and what are the recommendations for replacing the glass tile. it seems it would be hard to do.

I like some of the thin accent strips I've seen, but don't like the thicker ones for the most part. We have a few thin stripes in our hall bath, and to me, they still look pretty after over 3 years. I think that if you have them they are more successful if they are a well thought out design element in the room and not just some stripe of tile stuck in in order to make plain tile "not boring." Plain tile almost always looks OK, but there is plenty of awful looking accent tile out there.

What do people with marble vanities use for soap? The marble company came out and polished the etching out of my new vanity top and said it was the acid in the soap. It was apparently on the rim of the bottom of the liquid soap bottle that had sat there for 24 hrs. Same with a bottle of hand lotion. Now I'm scared to use it until I find out what to use first.

Typically we match the bathroom floor to the shower floor. If the bathroom floor tile is too large and slippery, we'd cut it into smaller pieces. Do make sure that your shower floor tile is not slippery when wet. There are products that you can put on the tile afterward to add some grit if needed. Your shower most likely has a threshold and make sure that is well-delineated so you won't stub your toes. Keep in mind that natural stone requires more maintenance and is not as resilient as porcelain tile.
