Where is your microwave located?
Comments (20)Mine languishes on a shelf in the pantry. But then, the only thing I use it for is softening ice cream or warming pancake syrup. I could probably live without it....See MoreMicrowave location? Please help!
Comments (6)Thanks for the replies. Brian, the microwave is well used in my house -- with three kids, there's no end of oatmeal, popcorn, and reheating leftovers. I like the idea of a hutch-like cabinet to house it on the counter, and I think my option #4 in my original post would function very much like this. The device is large for a microwave; sitting on my countertop right now, it basically fills the space between the base and wall cabinets and is nearly as deep as the base cabinet. So reaching over it to get to the wall cabinet above might be awkward. My option #4 involves removing the countertop and the top drawer of the base cabinet it's sitting on; that will move it down 8 inches or so. John, I've seen the drawer microwaves and don't fancy them. Not sure why, but just not my thing. I have visions of hot oatmeal sloshing around a drawer that's opened too aggressively by a child....See MoreHelp w/ location of oven/microwave in remodel
Comments (14)HI Scott -- going by your sketch --- Left wall (cooking wall ) remove the fridge but leave the wall oven tower and then center the new slide in stove (for second oven ) or just a cook top in the remaining space . Now re-move the small island and all of the other sink counter . Put the fridge across from where it was on the other side of that doorway . Now all the remaining space have a big island that will have the sink and dishwasher and storage . Have the sink across from the stove . This now has all the functions of the kitchens in the proper layout . The new island can now have stool seating on the opposite hall side if you want . I hope you can follow my explanation Scott....See MoreNeed help selecting the best convection microwave
Comments (4)Miele speedoven is the only way to go. It has a pull down door and bakes, convection, broils, and microwaves. We have a 36" BS and use the smaller Miele oven all the time. It heats up so quick that we find on small items it is much faster. It accepts a half baking sheet. You must install a 220v line, but it is worth doing. There is no comparison to other convection microwaves in this does it all. Of all the appliances we bought we use this the most....See Morepippabean
