OT -- So what are you giving for gifts for Christmas this year?
Comments (4)My kids are now all adults though they are students. Any money they spend is really our money. So we are not encouraging any lavish gifts. Our son has said before, the fact that he will not graduate in debt is the biggest gift he could ask for. Plus, it can be a lot of pressure to find a "perfect" gift: I remember that particular stress from Christmas gifts exchanged in my small office. Our boss would always get us something amazing (not expensive, just "perfect"): it set the bar too high for us peons. I loved everyone there but IÂm glad I donÂt have to deal with that anymore. I accumulate an Amazon wish list over the year: and keep adding to it. Any family member can just check that list and know they are getting me a book or CD I really want. Sometimes I make it even easier on them and order it myself! Since I have maybe 20 items on there I have no idea ahead of time what they might pick: keeps the surprise element. My husband had always been the hardest person to buy for. But he wore out 2 pairs of shoes this fallÂgreat timing! He is starting a new job with a long walk from the commuter rail station: hat and gloves! My digital camera just bit the dustÂgreat timing again (no, I did NOT drop it on purpose). Our son wants an "interview" suit. He needs it anyway, but chose to ask for this for Christmas. He has always worn his DadÂs: but they are not the same size, itÂs time he had his own. So we will make a day of it and all go as a family to choose it together. Our daughter is still at an age where she wants a lot, but doesnÂt trust us to select it. She send an e-mail with specificsÂthings she thought we couldnÂt mess up! Both "kids" will get various fun, inexpensive surprises in their stockings. Colorful notepads, decks of cards, makeup for daughter....See MoreBeautiful Gifts Arrived Today-and it's not even Christmas!
Comments (11)Punk is really something special...and its such fun knowing she put a huge smile on your face (and I think a hug in your heart too.) Those bowls are beautiful! She must've done one fantastic packing job to get them there safely! This was a very heartwarming post. I love how caring folks here are, and things like this makes us ALL feel good I think. hugs, Karen...See MoreVery important Christmas - Need gift ideas for husband
Comments (11)In response to the accountant remark, its not the IRS, its the state and not an income tax audit. I have paid a CPA $11k to do a forensic audit on me and according to them the state owes me $4k. This state is going after anything they can get so they won't have a shortfall. They hired 49 new auditors for this. It was a sales tax audit. I was told 20 years ago not to tax on vehicles by the DMV because I an not a dealer. They were wrong. I have to pay the sales tax on all the cars I have sold through my business. I have 11 people I know going through the same thing. The reason it has taken 3 years is they kept asking for extensions because they are short handed. So thanks but no thanks for your smart a$s comments, you have no clue what you are talking about....See MoreHelp! What is this plant and how to I take care of it?
Comments (7)should be lots of info in the houseplant forum ... my usual recommendation for plants that are basically .. outgrowing the house ... is to learn how to propagate them ... and once you get one going ... you get rid of the big one ... most likely ... its too big for the pot.. and the media is worn out ... but as you suspect.. if you go in there and put in loose fresh media .... its going to be real hard to keep it upright ... and a stake is not going to fit well with the decor of the room ... i am even thinking... i have run across youtubes for propagation ... on this very common houseplant .. finally.. dont get caught up ... in trying to make it look ... like it used to ... its a living plant ... ken ps: you can probably also cut it off at about 4 inches .... repot it.. and it will rejuvenate ... giving you a much smaller.. easier to deal with plant... but you can confirm that.. in the HP forum ......See Morelmontestella
