If the gap above the window bothers you and you don’t want to add custom blinds then you can lower the drapes a bit. This may help also when trying to by ready mades but don’t go too low! You don’t want a too short look and have a very squat look. I think taller is better!

I think getting another identical dresser is a great solution. But I'd really like to know what door is the entrance, the bath and closet before giving an opinion on layout since it may be different knowing that.
