How should I hang the curtain rod in DS/Guest room?
Comments (8)Agree with the others about the curtains, so it's unanimous! Do not care for the lamps on the nightstands. They look like desk lamps and unless they have VERY heavy bases they look like they would be pulled off the tables if they were moved around very much. Do you have to have matching lamps? I know it is the usual thing, but it isn't really necessary. Love the wall color and looking forward to seeing the curtains in situ....See MoreWanting to let guests color on paper tablecoths...
Comments (4)The paper/poly disposable tablecloths that I've used will NOT be suitable. They tear much too easily. (Of course, you might be looking at some different product.) The butcher's paper would be ideal. Great idea!...See MoreBe my guest.....I need help!!!
Comments (22)Lots of potential here! 1. Kitchen: like previous posters, I'd wait on dealing with countertop, backsplash, and wall color till you get the cabs painted. Painting a creamy white, or white uppers and dark lowers, will transform your space. New pulls and knobs, too -- they'll look like different cabinets. 2. Floors: IIRC, the jury on this forum is out re hardwood in kitchens. I have visions of dishwashers leaking, and once my fridge's ice dispenser went nuts on me and leaked all over the kitchen and DR, so I'm a big advocate of tile. It's hard, and it can be cold, but it will never, ever get water damage! (ours is porcelain, imitation travertine, and we get compliments on it all the time.) 3. Cabinets. paint or gel stain! I'd either go all white/cream or top white/cream, bottom walnut. (or what the heck, red!) 4. Wainscotting: yes yes yes, paint this! you've gotten good suggestions already. 5. Dining room. again, once the wainscoting is painted, you'll start to see what other color you might like to replace the red. One step at a time. At least, that's easier for me, since I agonize over every step! Much simpler to do one thing, live with it for a while, then keep going. good luck -- it'll be lovely!...See MoreMy client is wanting to impress his guests and wanted a gigantic TV
Comments (12)I agree with Jan as well for a multitude of reasons, however DrB477 made an excellent recommendation as I have one of these sets and am no less than satisfied with this set provided you can feed it the proper media. It has one of the best upscalers on the market and can make plain old television look good. It can turn a 1080 broadcast into a very nice picture. Dish, Directv and offerings from cable and phone providers look ok. You will also need to buy a library of movies and get a UHD DVD player to take full advantage of the that screen and that size. With a screen that size you will see all the magnificence and all the utter failures in spectacular fashion. If he is going to play video games on the set, then I don't recommend OLED. There are very few offerings in UHD and all of them are on streaming. To my knowledge there are no broadcast being done in UHD. If it is for sporting events a live OTA broadcast would be best, I think he will be less than pleased with how the compressed video looks on a cable/satellite provider. Also keep in mind that the set will require professional calibration if you client is anything like me and demands the absolute best in video playback. Out of the box the set will never look as good as that demo disc they are running on the showroom floor. If he is just an average Joe with more money than sense, then it's probably not that serious, he just wants to show off his big tv. Which if that is the case he can save a lot of money and just buy a Samsung or Sony LCD panel and call it a day. If you are going to go through with this find out from him if he is into image quality or just size....See MoreMy3dogs ME zone 5A
