It's December 2012 - How's Your Build Progressing?
Comments (58)Rushed to move our main wall ICF pour up to beat the blizzard that hit the midwest last week. We made it, and sure glad I did. Pics below of the walls poured and then pics of the day after with the snow. We went from 38 degrees on pour day to 50 mph wind gusts and negative temp wind chills the next day. See more pics and info in my blog. Here is a link that might be useful: building blog...See MoreIt's December - How's Your Build Progressing
Comments (50)Yes, my health has been giving me grief. I live with a brain injury and have some pretty intense headaches. I'm just recovering from one that lasted from late July to early October, that took three days of infusion therapy (hooked up to an IV) to break it up. Of course, it happened when we needed to make all the final flooring, paint and counter decisions, so we got about a month behind. There hasn't been much going on inside since the trim was finished, so it was pretty excited to see things get moving again. I'm loving the ICF walls! The thermostat is set at about 65 and it's so cozy in there, especially considering that it's been in the 20s at night! And it's nice and quiet, we don't hear anything outside, and we don't even have the floors in yet! The cabinet maker is the brother-in-law of the foreman who framed our house. If we could, we would have had him do the entire house. Instead, we'll likely have him upgrade as we need it in the future. Here are a few more pictures of the house progress. Hopefully we'll get caught up on the blog soon, too! I LOVE the natural light in our new house. This is the foyer. Fun picture of my son when we visited our cabinet maker a few weeks ago: D and his friend B: stamped concrete back porch:...See MoreIt's June, 2016- How is your build progressing?
Comments (174)We are finally making good headway and still hoping for a mid October move in. Everyone's builds are looking great. I like seeing everyone's progress. Roof should be sheeted and wrapped tomorrow. So hopefully next week will get the shingles on and windows in. So far I'm impressed with the framing job and with our build supervisor. We have walked it everyday and only found one mistake that was corrected. I had my eye on a crooked stud to see if it was going to be replaced and yup within 2 days it was done....See MoreIt's August, 2016- How is your build progressing?
Comments (243)There is some great progress being made by so many of you this month, thanks for sharing! @cpartist don't give up! It's taken us two years to get to where we are from when we first bought our land. City and environmental planning seemed like it would never end, then one day we actually got to break ground. Our home exterior is almost done, the final masonry for the entrance is going up today then we are ready for soffits and fascia. We finally found a good carpenter who fixed the old ones mistakes and passed our framing inspection with flying colours. Although it took ripping down and rebuilding some interior walls, which felt like moving backwards, we are now confident it's done right. HVAC is complete and we just got started on plumbing and electrical. The process has been a bit slower than we originally anticipated because hubby has went from general contracting the job to doing a lot of it himself. That's what happens when you are a perfectionist architect who wants to oversee your design/want to keep the borrowing to a minimum. We are looking forward to making more progress on the interior and hope we can move in by Christmas with our new baby. It has been good keeping track of progress on our blog and seeing how far we have come when things feel like things aren't progressing as fast as we want www.casadivillani.blogspot.com...See Morecslaughter27
