OBF December Swap: New Calendar Year 2017
Our Blooming Friends Swap Group [0BF] was created to have a reliable, fair and safe haven to swap and trade between group members. If you care to join us, we would love to have you.
Please be a successful member of GardenWeb/HOUZZ and have completed a trade with two or three of our members. Membership requests should be sent to me, Shirley (Brittneysgran).
Please take a moment to read our rules and then, Have fun!
1. Send your swap by posted deadline for each swap.
2. No bickering. This is meant to be fun for everyone.
3. Send things that you yourself would want to receive.
4. Always include a Delivery Confirmation number and post it when you send your package.
Ok I've wracked my brain to come up with something interesting, crafty and thrifty for our December Swap. We are going to send our partners a Calendar for 2017. The crafty part is we will be re-doing the calendar we purchase for our Partner. You will make it your own creation. You can take each month and add important dates (such as our OBF Members Birthdays) Events that happened in 2016 or farther back if you like. You can add pictures, stickers or anything you have that would be interesting. I know the dollar store has some nice calendars for $1.00 so the cost is great and mailing should be minimum. If you have pictures of your gardens you can attach them over the originals. You may have some nice bird pictures, grandkid pictures and etc. The skies the limit with our calendars. Please post pictures of your calendar when you receive it.
Sign ups will be until Dec. 6th and I will post partners on this date, please mail out by Dec. 20th.

Comments (150)Hi All, I've been so busy. I made cookies and stuff all night after work and then I answered some email. I wasn't going to write anything tonight because I'm tired. I was ready to go to bed but I realized it may be awhile until I can post again. So I want to tell the story I promised before. 11 years ago in August, Gary's brother, Joe, died helping a motorist who's car had been hit on a major highway. He got struck by a motorcycle that was speeding and then a car driven by a drunk driver. It was as you can imagine was quite an awful time. We as a family decided to donate all of Joe's organs. We felt that he died trying to help someone and it is what he would of wanted. Thanksgiving with Gary's family wasn't the best that year of course. Christmas as far as I could see wasn't going to be much better. On Christmas morning Gary and I got up. He was watching tv, and I was reading the newspaper. I started to read the letter to the editor part of the paper. There was letter from a woman from NJ writing to thank the family who made the decision to donate the organs of the man who had died on the highway. At that point, I just started to whell up with tears and Gary of course couldn't figure out why the paper would make me cry. I tried to read out loud to him, but I couldn't get it out and by that time I was bawling. The woman's brother had received Joe's heart, and surely would of died. It was a wonderful thing she did sending that letter. We were very sad, but we were also very happy to know that people were alive because of him. It made a tough Christmas bearable. So the best gift we ever got cost no more than the time it took her to write a letter and the stamp to mail it. (As a side note,Gary's parents eventually found out about all the people(info without names) he helped. And they did meet the man who got his lungs and became friends with him. They also are active members in UNYTS, the local organ donor group. Also the next year Gary's sister had a baby, the first grandchild. There's nothing like a baby to help lift people's spirits.) Ok, I've got to go to bed. Tomorrow is a long day at work, and then I've got to visit my baby brother and his family in the evening. Telepathy or something!!!! The jam I will send to you as an email once I jot it down. This was my first year making it, and it won't be my last. It's been a real winner. I have an insane collection of Santa's. He's the tallest one I have. My granddaughter sometimes calls him her pretend grandpop! I thought he was a beauty when I first laid eyes on him, and lo and behold, after Christmas one year, he was marked down by 50%, so I treated myself. Still more than I would have normally wanted to put out, but I think at that time, I had a bunch of money!!!!! He's a little over 5' tall. Shirley, why not take a different month? And I'll light a fire under Carol's butt....she's just coming back from her grandson's wedding, so it takes her a little time to get back in to the groove. I fell like I have been doing laundry all weekend...two loads to go for the wash and then i'm done for a few weeks or more. Got all the new Christmas clothes down for everyone, and everybody gets new sheets and stuff, aside from the regular dirty stuff, and i'm pooped. kitchen is clean, dog is bathed, i'm halfway there with my contribution for new years. this coming week i'll tackle my granddaughter's room...best to do that when she's at school. then it's time for the basement which I dread, but it needs to be organized, once again Well, hope everyone has a great New year celebration. We are heading up the mountains, probably the last time until the spring. She recieved shower gel, lotion, lip gloss and a foot scrubby. As for feeling bad about what you sent??? NO, don't even think that - everything is WONDERFUL! In fact, Megin is doing her best to take me into starting a new quilt with her this coming weekend out of the Mickey fabric... I keep telling her that we need to finish her cousins Easter one first. Her thinking is: cousin Jenni and cousin Kayla are both having babies this summer and we need to start on the baby quilts so that they have them when they are born in case the weather gets cold. LOL If that fails she wants a new robe from the pattern you sent - when I said that I didn't have a piece of fleece big enough she comes back with - it can be like Josephs coat of many colors, only a robe! 7 years agoI got Amys over the top package yesterday. The butterfly calendar is so beautiful and all the notes inside are super cute. With the note pads and stickers I am set to be organized. I hung the hot pads right up. They look home made and go with my old fashion Christmas theme. Where did the day go. finished the rest of my white chocolate buckeyes.

7 years agoI could finally get some pictures on my computer so here's a Christmas special with my two granddaughters - at least we think they're pretty special! As you can see, Santa remembered to bring some things for the new baby also. Big sister was happy to help unwrap things for her.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. For us, it will be hard to top this year. The only thing better would have been to be with the grandsons and their family as well. Maybe another year...

7 years agoTammy I did not set a date for calendar mailing because I knew it was going to be a busy month. The best part is we can use them for 12 months next year.
Jeanne-thanks for the Birthday wishes and those Granddaughters are oh so special. They will probably grow up Best Friends.
I received my wonderful calendar from Susan and oh what a wonderful one it is. Seeds are attached on some months with the date to plant them. Tea to share with a Friend, yankee candle car air freshner (my favorite scent-McIntosh apple). Vanilla cupcake stick scents and the best part is this calendar is called Dreaming in Color and you can color each month with markers. Where ever did you find such a beautiful calendar? Love it. I posted this late for I received it last Friday but too much happening and I lost my camera and wanted to get a picture. The day after Christmas my not too bright Family decided we were going to Dollywood and it was a nightmare. Did not know it was the busiest day of the year and we stood in lines for hours, sometimes to be told NO the Theatre is full. Never again.
Anyway I love you Ms. Susan and I aim to get this posted for I am leaving with two friends early in the morning going to Naples Florida for a week. You are awesome and thanks for the Birthday card with more seeds to plant. Yeah

7 years agoReceived an awesome Bon Voyage calendar from Faye. Thank you so much! France happens to be a favorite place to visit and this bring back fond memories! Fun stickers mark the OBF s birthdays and other special occasions plus extra stickers were included to personalize my own dates. Very neat!
Thanks also for the Christmas/New Years card and seeds. Didn't expect seeds. Very nice surprise which included white Spanish bells, snowdrift marigolds, Japanese blue morning glories, and zinnia. I didn't think I would be planting anything this year but my mind has been changed.. Funny what a few seeds can do!

7 years agoLaura sent me the cutest calendar. I think she made the whole thing. I quickly put it together sitting here in the parking lot of post office. Lol! I can't wait to place it on my desk and she also wrote everyone's birthday on the days each month. Very thoughtful!! Love it!!! Thank you!!!
