What do you have more than one of 'cause you love it?
Comments (8)I used to have a lot more duplicates, but downsizing and Old Man Winter have eliminated most of them. On BOGOs from Maryott, I used to plant one in the ground and one in a pot for hybridizing. I still have Inimitable and Levi Davis both in the ground and in a pot. Until this spring, I had two clumps of Ruby Lipstick and Annabelle's Blush, but sold the extras to make room for new daylilies. I like to divide my lates and spread them around. I currently have three clumps of Royal Jester and two clumps of Techny Peach Lace, although I'm pretty sure I'm getting rid of both clumps of Techny Peach Lace. Since it bouquet blooms, the show is over in three weeks, and I have much better performing lates now in the same color range (Kentucky Lucky, for example bloomed last year for almost 8 weeks). At one time I had three clumps of Westbourne Good Old Days. I kept dividing it because it was such a vigorous grower. Now I have two clumps, and plan to sell off the smaller one in the future. If I were going to mass plant any of the daylilies I currently own, it would be Edge of Your Seat (because of the terrific repeat bloom) or Ruby Lipstick, which is well budded and usually throws a few reblooms scapes. Comments (33)I never had any use for a toaster oven until I had no oven. I remembered the little toaster oven from my youth that made burned toast that my grandmother then scraped and buttered anyway. I haven't had a working oven in quite a while. I finally broke down and purchased a countertop oven perhaps the same size as the one Sharon is showing, maybe smaller. It wasn't a high end model, just an Emerson from Target. This Thanksgiving I did a 12 pound unstuffed turkey in it. I didn't think it was possible but it was. Since I carved it and froze the meat and almost everything for that meal I was able to do everything one item at a time. We had Thanksgiving on the sailboat where my son has been living in Long Beach since September. I find that it runs hot and I have to adjust the temperature dial down about 25 degrees. Also deep loaf pan quick breads will tend to burn on the bottom before they are baked through. So I divide the recipe into three mini loaf pans instead or use a small bundt pan. Glass also tends to lead to burned bottoms on my quick breads. We make lots of cookies, one-loaf quick bread recipes, pies and crisps and small bundt cakes. I haven't attempted yeast bread yet but I will at some point. I've baked pumpkin halves, and stuffing, and sweet potatoes. As long as the baking dish fits, I think almost anything can be baked in it. I don't use the mini cookie sheets one can purchase for toaster ovens, they are so small they are silly. Mine has a removeable bottom liner so I use that with parchment. It slides into the rack slot. Works fine....See MoreDo you have a basket or remotes or do you have a universal one?
Comments (6)my wife got me the best Christmas present ever last year, a Logitec Harmony remote. you program it thru your PC. enter your model number of each device in the program, it retrieves the codes and dumps them to your remote. you even tell it what devices to turn on for what activity. it is truly the only remote i have ever seen that does all functions of the originals. i included a link below. mine took the place of 12 remotes. i even have read of people using them to control lighting and gas fireplaces, though i don't. the only drawback is that you must be connected to the internet to program it, and i only have dial up at home so it can sometimes take a while. Here is a link that might be useful: pricey but worth it!...See MoreRecessed medicine cabinets. Do you have one? Do you love it?
Comments (10)We had a wall of recessed cabinets custom-built by a cabinetmaker - I did not want the "tower" in the middle because I don't like how it takes up all the counter space. This is basically just a 5 or 6" deep cabinet that spans the entire wall. The contractor then made the rest of the wall (behind the backsplash and sinks) even with the cabinet so it seems like the cabinet is recessed into the wall even though it is really sitting on top of the original wall. I love it - we have so much space (and we have a ton of bathroom crap so I never thought I'd have extra room!) I will say that if I hadn't done this, I would probably have gone for tall recessed cabinets in the side walls and mirrors in front of the sinks -- kind of like the 2nd pic you posted. Victoria Elizabeth Barnes made one for her bathroom - you can get to it from this link: http://victoriaelizabethbarnes.com/before-and-after-diy-bathroom-remodel-bright-and-light-subway-tile-marble-lookalike-custom-medicine-cabinet/ Arcy -- LOVE that cabinet! I think that is a great idea - can't wait to see it done!...See Moreeld6161
