your fave ws tools/implements/techniques
Comments (22)Last year ws my first WS year and I lived in AZ, so I could do it all outside.. I have to admit I cringed at the posts about sowing in the kitchen etc. I admit I really did not understand the whole indoor reasoning, being that it was 50 outside in my yard. Then I moved to TX this year.... Holy Moly is it cold outside!! needless to say, I was looking back at old posts about how to sow in the kitchen LOL Payback for all the thoughts I had last year :) The tricks I learned last year from all the wonderful people on this forum made it all so much easier and fun. I love my saudering iron, learned that it does smell indoors, love the idea of the candle, will have to add that one. My other favorite tools are my kitty litter buckets. Great for holding soil and tools. Plus they have a lid so kids, cats, and dogs stay out of them no matter where they are. I did learn this year that kittens are really a pain in the rear when sowing seeds. I had big towels on the floor to catch water and soil but they were intent on sticking little paws in each container I had open and ready for seeds, and thought pulling the towels around was great fun. Will be interesting to see what seeds landed where when they start showing up! Thanks for all the helpful advice, especially those of you in the cold areas ;)...See MoreMy kids are sucking down all the juice!
Comments (32)Am I the only one who would just buy more juice? I think that teenage boys require a whole lot more food than a 10 year old girl does. I've always had lots of food in the house. Fruit and veggies cut and ready to snack on, various chips and snacks and I usually bake cookies or brownies once a week. There is also a big bin of candy in the kitchen. My kids (girl 19, boy 15) have always just sort of balanced their own diets with the choices we have day to day. I always ended up tossing their Halloween candy at Christmas, their Christmas candy at Easter...etc. That said, I think If their habits were different I suppose I would limit some things. My son right now is just about to turn 15, he is 6'2" tall and weighs in at about 150 pounds. I'm trying to find ways to get him to eat MORE! Nothing like making French toast every morning at 5:45. He probably drinks a half gallon of OJ a week, a big Powerade every day, lots of water and about a half gallon of milk a week. (he plays football). For lunch he has a big turkey sub, chips or pretzels, a cookie or brownie, red peppers cut up, a granola bar and DH usually tosses in a snack sized candy bar. This has to last him from lunch until after practice, when he usually has something small, then we have dinner around 7. It's been funny over the years when other kids visit they don't quite know what to do. But the carrots and red peppers go just as fast as Chex Mix and chips when they're playing football or swimming. The cookies are another story. In the summer when all of his friends are around I make about 2 dozen a week. Beth P....See MoreSo, Robo...
Comments (134)"my DH paid into SS for 44 years and it is what sustains my life today, along with his company benefits. For you to say it 'isn't earned' boggles my mind. While I do have other financial benefits in the form of an IRA, annuities, and such, why in god's name would I choose to use that when he was paying into SS all those years? There are many who have NOT worked, yet collect disability/SS, and they seem to be the very people who feel entitled." Patty you have got to be kidding!!! You just told us that you are collecting money from your *husband's* Social Security benefit....and then you say something snarky about the many who have not worked yet collect SS?!?! Um, that would be the face in the mirror for you....See MoreFor Robo and Emmett. Let's show our support!
