I don't have colored pendants; mine are fairly typical so I won't bother showing them. However, I wish I'd seen these before I bought the ones I bought! Athough they don't have color, I think they'd look good in a traditional white kitchen with brushed nickel. Here is a link that might be useful: Nice looking pendant fixture

Hey melrogirl, It depends, I think, if you want the new pendant lights to be the focal point of the kitchen or not. If you do want these new lights to be the focal point, then have them not be brushed nickel but the Tiffany style or the red colour. If you want some other part of the kitchen to be the focal point, keep with the brushed nickle style. In our kitchen we want the flooring (dark hardwood) and the counter top (quartz) to be the focal point, so we have light cabinets and all hardward (faucets, cabinet handles, etc.) and non-recessed lighting (i.e. pendants) are of the brushed nickel (actually, come to think of it our kitchen sounds a little like yours, except we have no red). And, the cabinet handles are thin so they blend in and do not draw visual attention away from the countertop and flooring. Heck, even the kitchen sink matches the off-white cabinets to it does not attract attention (reminds me of a kitchen sink joke :-) ) The eye will gravitate to contrasts. Its a question of what you want the eye to gravitate to. Thanks for all of the input!!! It sounds like a pendant may not be in my future. I loved the idea of it but as I was looking at it more, I was worried that there might be too much going on there. I was having second thoughts and wanted to get opinions from all of you. Holly-Kay: we are planning on changing out the chandelier above the table to a bronze finish to tie in with the darker wood and fireplace things. But I see how a pendant above the sink might be too much. Snookums2: we removed the dark screens and it looks much better. I can't wait for everything to get started! I thought about tiling to the ceiling but wasn't sure since our cabs don't go to the ceiling. We are going to add a taller crown but nowhere near ceiling height. That may be the subject of another post. Nosoccermom: great idea about hanging a balloon. I don't have photoshop but maybe I could cut and paste something there and post again. What's the wattage of the mosaic mini pendant? I would think using the light that mimics your vent hood would probably look okay if the sink isn't too close to the peninsula, assuming the wattage is high enough of course. The only concern I would have is a pendant over me instead of over the sink area; might not give appropriate light. Is the vent working? If not, could you take it out? Or maybe doing two smaller recessed lights on either side of that vent (depending how big it is across your sink area) would work better; then you would have the light properly over the sink? Hope those thoughts are of some help...
