Struggling to find an electric wall oven 27in wide 27 3/4 inch height

Hi all- I am trying to help my parents replace their electric wall oven which is 27 inch wide/ but 273/4in high. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know the dimensions but we have a GE Profile in the 27 inch size. If you google it GE will have the dimensions. Also google 27 inch wall oven and you will get a lot of the brands available. Go to the manufacturers site and that should have dimensions.

Try AJMadison. There aren't very many 27" ovens being made anymore. The new standard is 30". Because the current styles usually have the door covering the frame, rather than having an exposed surround, this also changes the dimensions.

You need to know the size of your cabinet opening, and how much you have available to steal from a wider face from or anything like that, not the size of the old oven.

Once you know the size of your opening, and the total amount of coverage that you can spare, maximum, look at the nominal 27" ovens. If you use AJMadison.com, you should also be able to find the spec/installation sheets in the listings that tell you what the cutout size required is for each oven.

In the end, you may have to get a 24" oven if you can't find a 27" that fits. There's more variety in 24" as well.

Thanks for all the replies - I can understand why people are suspecting my contractor of ignorance. That can happen, but I don't believe it to be the case this time. I think he is making sure I am happy with the outcome and have a oven that won't tip or tear out cabinet face frame. Maybe he is being over cautious.... It sounds like it is possible to just set the 27 inch oven on top of a base support instead of IN a 27 inch cabinet - is this correct? Then use some filler pieces if there is any space left exposed, right? Ok, so how would you secure the oven if you are NOT screwing clips to the face frame. If we were to anchor it to the back of the wall, it would certainly be secure, BUT, if the oven ever needed servicing or removal, would we have to remove our granite counter to get at it? Also, what should we do about supporting the granite counter above? Should we use the MDF vertical cabinet sides on either side of the oven?? I'm not at all concerned about the cost of the cabinet. It was only $130, then Home Depot gave me another $50 off when I asked about the problem with their cabinet specs. My only concerns are making sure the oven is secure with support for the granite. This oven will be adjacent to a wall, so it is at the end of a line of countertop.

I'm not fond of a triple stack in a single cabinet. It puts the bottom appliance at an unusable height, so it never gets used. I'm also not fond of the gutting that it takes to fit a 30'' oven into a framed 30'' cabinet. Most of the time, enough of the face frame has to be cut away that it requires reinforcing the sidewalls. I have one installer that completely refuses to do this withou a significantt extra fee, as it requires time basically rebuilding the cabinet. Each element has to have it's own platform, it's own dedicated electrical supply, (which many people forget about) and a cabinet rail between them. Even if the allowed clearances make it look as though there is no rail between the appliances, it's there, as that is how they are fastened into the cabinets. Can it be done? Yes, but not easily or cheaply. You need both an electrician to run all the new wires, and a cabinet maker to do the cabinet alterations. No handyman. No appliance installer. Someone who can take apart a cabinet, take apart a door a recut it to be shorter and put it back together, and stain some wood to match perfectly. Find the most experienced cabinet shop in town with a cranky old man working for them, and that's your craftsman.

A 30” oven will fit in a 30” frameless cabinet. The sides of the cabinet are the weight bearing structure. But a 30” framed cabinet has 1 1/2” faceframes, that carry the whole weight of the cabinet, that have to be cut at least 1 1/2”in order to fit a 30” oven. In a basic line, with 3/8” sides, never cut the faceframe. It weakens the cabinet too much. You need a 33” cabinet. In a mid line, with 1/2” sides, maybe. Depends on the design and what is next to it. Because you also need a filler next to a wall, and between it snd the refrigerator for clearance. In an upgraded line, with 3/4” sides, the ability to do a custom size should also exist, and a 31 1/2” cabinet should work better. Unless inset and wanting either a flush mount, or to have the bead visible on the surround for beaded inset. Which some do. In a standard framed line, specifying a 33” cabinet is just the better standard choice for both clearance and cabinet stability when unsure of the proposed specs or the installer’s abilities.

@CPArtist, Thanks for your input! Again, I put up the layout for fun (since the original is, really, interesting/unusual). This will be the 6th kitchen we've designed--we know that it probably won't look like the average American kitchen. We've had the trash near the sink, and much prefer it in the island, where the vast majority of cooking scraps end up. We've also had wide aisles, and find that we prefer what we're used to, which are admittedly not what most people suggest. Too wide and we feel it's awkward. It's yet to be a problem for resale. To be clear, also, the design rendered above is my 'sketch,' not what the contractor etc are using to actually build and design. It is a general idea. For how we live, and cook, it's much more functional than the original with the stove facing the opposite way with air behind a false wall. Again, thanks for your suggestions! If you have any experience with a 24" oven that you loved, I'm really looking for opinions there.

That is the exact size of our wall oven, when we built the house, we were leaning towards a drop in range with a pair of side by side wall ovens, but after much thought we went with a slide in stove with oven and a single wall oven, it made much more sense on every level.

So anyway, I felt like the 30" was too big and the 24" was too small, in comes the 27" and it works great, we have a GE unit in there now, I recently seen the newer model (mine is 4 years old) on sale at home depot for $900 with steam.. I think mine was over $1000 4 years ago. Besides changing a few light bulbs, I can not complain about the unit..
