Hallway lights - which bulbs for this fixture?
Comments (2)Any of these bulb combinations would be much brighter than a single 4o-watt incandescent. With the halogen, it may be possible to adjust light levels by using a lower-wattage bulb. The pin-type fluorescent fixture will limit you to whatever wattage the fixture was designed for. Through reduced electricity usage and longer bulb life, the more expensive fluorescent fixture might pay for itself in seven or eight years at current energy prices, assuming the lights were on for four hours a day. The cheaper, lower-wattage fluorescent fixture would do it in about five years. If you don't need lots more light than you've currently got, though, these fixtures may indeed be overkill....See Moreneed advice on track lighting for art studio
Comments (1)Personally, I like the LED Strip lights. They provide great light and they can be placed and set up in any way that you would like. They also have a nice/trendy look to them when placed in a clear tube. There are also different types of LED strip lights where you can actually change the color of them. It is actually a positive thing that you have so much space; this leaves you with a lot of opportunity for designs!...See MoreKitchen, Small - Track or Can Lights?
Comments (4)I had those type of lights in my kitchen too. I broke the plastic panels early on with the mop handle! I ended up leveling the ceiling and installing recessed lighting. I like the pendant you posted. Will it provide as much light as those larger fluorescents and if not do you need the bright lighting? LED bulbs provide great light, and many options exist for color and brightness. I've always liked track lighting - but concerned that it might be dated? Perhaps you'll get more opinions on that. Comments (8)I partly agree with Patricia. I only use edison bulbs as an accent. they're nice above dining tables since they're like candle light, but you will need supplementary lighting if you want the space to be bright. you have to keep these bulbs really dim so they don't blind you, and the light they do cast is very warm. look at a restaurant or coffee shop that is decorated with edison bulbs. notice how they are dimmed really low, and then look around and see how there are tons of other kinds of lights (typically cans or track). where I don't agree with Pat is that I prefer warm light in a room. 4000k is great during the day, but too cool for night. you might experiment with supplemental light and find a balance. personally, I love 3000k....See MoreRelated Professionals
