Where to end/use backsplash on long kitchen wall

I'm hoping for help deciding where to end/use backsplash on my long kitchen wall. The backsplash will go along the whole back wall but should I stop in the corner, extend around the corner to the upper cabinet line, or extend around the corner to the window frame (which is the same depth as the counter)? We are likely using 3X12 or 4x12 subway tiles. Also wondering what to do with the cubby area...tile on just the back or forget the tile and just paint? Thanks in advance for your help!

Personally I would do the back wall only . Not the cubby or side by the window .

Okay, here's some quick pictures. The area in the kitchen has wood on one side (built in fridge) and tile on the other. The Butler's Pantry has tile on both sides. I think it looks fine. When I was contemplating this decision, many people thought I should leave the side wall alone. But I felt like it would be unfinished looking. I found Bill's website. That's a schluter edge. Nice they did that...but they sure did a messy job. Same thing happened with my back splash. They tried to "clean it up" which helped some, but still doesn't look professional. I would have the gc look at it. Ask him "does this look like the kind of work you expect to see in a (whatever price) custom home? If I review you on Houzz you want me to post these pictures?" That should get you some kind of answer... Good luck!

On a wall with hood only, where does backsplash end?

I have this same dilemma right now. I'm going to add shelves to either side of hood and thinking I will tile up to the bottom shelf on either side of hood and then the whole area under the hood. I can't go the same height all the way around because of windows and I didn't want to do that anyway.

I really love the look when you go around the corner, only to the depth of the upper cabinet. It looks very polished, very nicely finished. The size/scale of the tile matters for this type of look. (If you're using a large format tile, I wouldn't recommend it.) You would then use a bullnose tile or a deco edge to end the tile.

I would do the back wall only. It's the most common look. I'd do the cubby too.
