hanging leaded glass window inside existing window frame?

A family member gave me 2 beautiful old leaded glass windows from a house that had been "upgraded" (she'd been holding on to them since the 70s). I'd like to hang them inside the upper panel of the single-hung front windows in my 1906 Foursquare. They are overall about 6" shorter than the existing windows so placing them directly in the window doesn't seem practical.

But they weigh about 20 lbs each and I worry about them falling. They currently have metal frames (made from metal picture frame molding). It seems like the best thing to do might be to have a wooden frame made and then suspend them by chain. Does that seem reasonable? Should I go to a stained glass person, a framer or a handy person for this? Any alternate suggestions?
