Ok here goes--What I would do with texas. It seems to me that this is a depression in the ground--lower on all sides than the grass. I would get some soil in there and make it level with the lower grass--nearest to the house. A few stratigicly spaced stones will help with soil errosion on the street level, so it doesn't all need to be filled in. When you plant on the slope, dig the earth back towards the house, so you create a depression or dam, where water can sink into the ground. You may want to put a low growing shrub or 2 in later. For now, though, I'd stick to perennial and annual flowers. They can be moved easily--shrubs can't. So wait until you decide if and where you want them. Sit on your porch and imagine a full grown shrub there and then you'll know. To tie everything together use some of the same plants you have elsewhere. On saving money--Do you have any friends who have well established gardens? Spring is the time when most gardeners divide their perennials. Let it be known that you will take their left overs. I know I'm only too happy to pass on mine, when I'm dividing mine. Most gardeners hate to throw out plants if they can give them to someone. Now is a good time to buy perennial plants. Most nurseries are getting rid of their stock for the winter, and you can get some good buys. Just make sure it has a good root system and then cut it back and water it well once it's planted--only if it's a perennial--never cut back a shrub--ask the nursery person about cutting back.GA is zone 6-8 so make sure you get plants for your zone. Lastly--you have to find out just how much sun you get-- Less than 5 hours is shade or if it's under a tree dappled shade, especially if it's only morning and evening shade. 5 to 8 hours is part shade. Anything more is full sun I hope I've given you a few ideas

Trueblue....Thank you so much..I just hope I don't have a problem with wilt on my Clematis..I'm also hoping it is pretty much hardy and disease resistent..If not, I am in trouble..lol Do you recomend a certain way of planting it? Oh, Logees' was bearable..I did go with Rose and Wes..lol That place always smells so good and so much to chosse from...It's funny though..Every time I go there, I am made to realize I already have most of the ones they have..ha..I am always on the prowl for something new, different and a plant that whaffs through the air! It was so warm in there too while it was cold outside..Sheesh, If I could only work there. It is reminiscent of the Frank Lloyd Wright Hanna House in Palo Alto, CA from 1937, although I heard of another FLW hexagonal house in the Berkeley Hills when I lived in San Francisco, and I was told that FLW designed hexagonal cushions to fit into the window seats of that house and also designed some hexagonal furniture for it. I never saw it in person, but I have an image of it in my mind, perched on a cliff and cantilevered, but that could be the result of my imagination at the time. Where is the house in your photo?
