Nobody who doesn't use your particular store has any real relevance here, since HD contracts all this stuff to local people.

I would suggest though, that it will be probably cheaper to find a local fabricator and go direct, plus you don't have the hassles that come when you're caught between a poor fabrication job and an uninterested HD, which happened to a neighbor of mine with her Corian that she bought through them.

Quartz closest to carrera marble?

I don't know anything about marble countertops but I did purchase my Corian through HD so I thought I would mention this. In our case, I really wanted to use the local guy. Their work was fantastic but the price was much more than HD. After thinking about it and thinking about it, I decided to go with HD and it turned out that the local guy they contracted out to was the guy I really wanted to use to begin with...minus the high price. I felt bad about it but the cost savings was too much to pass up.

If you can find out who HD uses and then check the reviews on that fabricator, you'll have a better idea as to if you should go for it. If they don't let you select your slab, go somewhere else.

As far as price, carrara is always one of the cheaper stones out there (and Silestone isn't) so you might as well check out other fabricators/stone yards if that's what you want.

Personally, I like the patina marble gets and carrara is always pretty. A stoneyard will be able to give you a sample to torture and make sure it's right for your intended abuse. :)

While I wasn't looking to use Home Depots marble, when I did ask who does their Quartz for them they had no problem telling me everything I wanted to know. Who the fabricators would be and where the stone slab would come from and that I could go see it if I wanted. Ultimately didn't go with Home Depot but they we're forthcoming with the info.

I had HD install a granite vanity and sink and they did a fine job. It could not have been done any better. Please be sure that you really want carrara marble. I have carrara marble for the floor and vanity top in a powder room, done about 20 years ago. They are worn and scratched and will be replaced next year for other reasons.

At year 19, brown/yellow stains appeared within th stone which I have since learned is some kind of oxidation or rust. Theory is there is/was some water leaking. Also, I had Vermont Danby marble counters installed in my kitchen reno, 5 years ago. There are scratches, tons of etches but not one stain. Also, little white divots. If that's your cuppa, fine. Just be aware.

Hi there! wondering what you ended up going with? It’s interesting because I’m going through the same dilemma myself! Not only are the wuartz countertop look alikes way more expensive, but I dont feel the expense is worth it- still looks so fake to me. They have their beauty and can appreciate it in someone else’s kitchen, but it would bother me too.

I also picked out a simple white color from silestone & was so certain I was going with it…. until when I was waiting for an appointment… I just couldnt keep my eyes off the cararra. Just so beautiful. Nothing man made can compare to it.

My wuestion to you is- did you end up going with wuartz vs marble? Are you still happy with your deicision?
