Can someone help me identify this bamboo?
Comments (16)See, thats the "bizarre" part of this. We just purchased this house 2 months ago. The previous owners lived here for about 18 years. Our neighbor planted this in OUR yard (of course it wasn't our yard 15 years ago). Who the heck knows why? I can't even imagine taking one of our indoor potted invasive plants & popping over next door to plant it-lol! The thing is, he's proud of how well it has grown? We'll be putting a fence up in another couple of weeks. So, he'll have to hop the fence to plant the poison oak he's got clippings of:-) May I ask you a question about where to put it? Our house is on a crawl space. I was thinking of putting a clump of it in a shady spot right up against the house & the deck. I'll keep it in check by chopping the rhizomes, as you mentioned. However, if they go under the house (into the crawl) or under the deck, will that be a problem? There is absolutely no light under the crawl & almost completely dark under the deck. Will the plant naturally "not" grow in those areas? I don't want to create a bigger problem. I'm also going to offer the rest up on freecycle or the va board here at gardenweb (free for the digging). Do you think people would want this? Any transplant issues I should know about? Thanks so much....See MoreCan someone tell me about this gents chest please?
Comments (18)Once again, for clarification, I was asking for "ANY information to include value" on my piece. I wasn't just asking for an appraisal nor was I asking for comparisons or for the dose of smart *s* that was in that response. And now I got someone else who says they are "ticked" off at me because I responded to someone who came across as a smart *s* and didn't provide me any information that I had requested. I didn't see in any rules here that says that I should start all post with "I come in Peace". But for some reason I don't think that would have helped. Once again all I can say is WOW! This forum sure knows how to welcome people. This whole "antiques & collectibles" forum is something else. "Holyier than thou" forum seems more fitting. When I found this site I was impressed and was going spread the word, now can you guess the word I will have to spread about it? And for all the other stone throwers like lindac, go ahead and get it out of your system....See MoreCan Someone Tell Me About These Pictures
Comments (11)Did they make the frames to fit the porcelain/faux ormolu things or vice versa? Like they had fan frames and no fans that fit and stuck those "things" into them. If I had a collection of fancy hat pins, I'd demount the "things" and use the velvet as the pincushion. So what are the "things" anyway? They are supposed to be 18th c. French miniature scenes enamel on porcelain, but what's with the gilt metal frame w/handle? Sommelier cups gone to Vegas? Casey...See MoreCan Someone Tell Me About This Vase/Jar
Comments (15)I don't think that's cloisonne. Cloisonne is little wires, like copper, with colored enamel between. That just painted, no wires. I would suggest asking on the Antiques forum here on GW. Lindac there knows a lot....See Morekudzu9
