November 2014 Quilting/Sewing Goals
Comments (26)Thank you for thinking of me, Theresa. Things are going. DH is doing ok.....the first of 3 scheduled Dr appts is tomorrow. DD and her 2 kids flew up to Michigan yesterday for the funeral of our family member which is tomorrow. I sent a quilt with her to give to Nada hoping it will help give her comfort from losing her husband of only 25 years. And, it's freezing cold here! Life goes on........ 1. Concentrate on completing the Citrus Cooler top (forgot about it) 2. Make a couple more yellow star with red and white log cabin blocks (I have 12 of those blocks done and want to do 4 more so have started on those but haven't done any sewing for 2 days) 3. Start quilting Michelle's dog quilt (oops!) 4. Mail quilts to Oregon and lotto blocks to Valarie. (mailed and received) 5. Hang in there...... (working on it) Hope everyone else is having a better November than we are. Check in please. I know Turkey Day is coming up.......we will be thankful. Comments (14)OK, this is a test to see if I'm in again. I finally looked to see if I can post without all the added stuff (social media links, etc.) which I don't do and will not do. I've been reading all the posts since the change and have kept up with everyone. I've made several quilts since I last posted, some good ones, some not so good. I had to beg hubby to make me a quilt display ladder because I was running out of places to store them. It really turned out awesome. I want him to make me another one. I also broke away for a couple of weeks to do something else, I'd done so much quilting I was at the point where I couldn't find anything I wanted to work on. So I dragged out my rug hooking stuff and worked on that for awhile. But I'm back. Went to a quilt show in Crystal River recently, it was pretty good. A lot of applique and embellishment using beads, buttons, etc. which I don't do a lot of but it was worth the drive....See MoreJune, 2016 Quilting/Sewing Goals
Comments (16)We live on the West side of US19 which makes it an evacuation zone. We've had mandatory evacuation once in almost 20 years and we went to DD's house which is 10 miles from us inland. She ended up having more damage than we did during that time. Water was 'driven' through their brick house. Between her MIL, who was also there, and me, we were spinning water out of towels for hours. Now, they spray the brick every summer with something that waterproofs it. Another time we had a big tree come down during the storm and we lost electricity so had to leave for about 4 days. We'd come back during the day and run the generator for the freezer and fridge. (I don't like doing those sandwiches either.)...See MoreDecember, 2016 Quilting/Sewing Goals
Comments (18)I'm so excited. I'm almost finished cutting my scraps - just a ton of whites to do. My drawers of scraps are all empty except for folded pieces the size of fat quarters or larger. Okay, some of the folded pieces are maybe 1/8s, but it's still a huge improvement. Now I just have to resist starting to sew scrappy log cabins and get busy on the 2017 lotto blocks. I also have to figure out what to take to Hawaii with me this year. I have a scrappy mountain majesties to take -- i actually brought it to Hawaii last year and didn't do it -- and about half of my one block wonder. I mailed my stepdaughter's quilt to her on Friday. She should have gotten it today, but she didn't. Hopefully, tomorrow. The tracking app shows it still in transit, so I hope it gets there tomorrow. I sent it to her work place, so it wouldn't sit on her doorstep and someone would have to sign for it. I decorated the house for Christmas over the weekend. It's alway so much fun to take out the tree skirt and table runner I made. The tree skirt was the first quilt I made, so I'm very sentimental about it....See Moregeezerfolks_SharonG_FL
