Rogue Valley carries this one (although it is out of stock). It is listed as hardy to zone 4 and reblooms!! Haven't been able to find much info about this one. Anyone grow it?
Hi, Kelly. Very curious, indeed! Help Me Find lists a Duchesse d'Ossuna which sounds like the same HP rose but provides no photos and little info. I wonder where RVR sourced its rose. Carol
I got it by mistake -- I ordered 'Duchess de Rohan', but when it bloomed, it was clearly "HP purplish-red", then fading a bit lighter before the petals dropped. I looked through the inventory alphabetically and think it's 'Duchesse d'Ossuna'. I can't say much more about it since it sat in its 2gal container all Summer. I won't replant it into its larger container until Spring to avoid a flush of new growth that will get lost to Winter.
Hate to be a downer Kelly, but my Duchesse de O'sunna didn't even survive a mild winter in zone 5. Help Me Find only lists this one to zone 6, and that's been my experience with most HPs. It might have been a fluke, but I can grow other HPs and this one melted over the winter like an icicle in the sun. A much better and hardier HP is Sydonie, that has thrived even in part shade in zone 5. That one is indeed rated to zone 4 in HMF, and it's thriving and huge.

Thanks Cynthia. That's why I post! Gallicas do well here and a few other rather boring rugosas and some varieties local places carry. I love the look of old roses.. Sydonie is on my list as well as vicks caprice and grandmother's hat. I have heard positive things about rose de rescht and variagata de bolongia so those are coming spring as well. I love reading your posts as you seem to have extensive knowledge and experience with so many different varieties. It's nice to hear from other cold zoners what has worked well for them (and not so well too! )
Hi, Kelly. I used to live in MN and had good luck with Albas as well as Rugosas and my beloved Gallicas. Albas are lovely, graceful, fragrant shrubs. Palatine Roses lists both of the rebloomers Jacques Cartier and Yolande d'Aragon as 4b. Have you ordered from Paltine? It's in Canada and grows roses grafted on Multiflora stock. Palatine has sold out of many OGRs at this time, but it is a good resource and there's always next year! Carol
