I disagree with some of Hobby Lobby's business practices and how they're influenced by religious beliefs of the owner that aren't kept private. They have the right to do what they want (so long as within the law) and I have the right as a potential customers to say that those practices are wrong in my opinion and make me choose to give them no business.

The second I saw the title of your post, I knew there would be at the very least one or two comments regarding corporate religious leanings.

Most companies veer toward liberal leanings, center at best.

It is a rare sighting indeed to see a company stand on their laurels, as it were, so....even if I generally disagree with the sentiment, I can't help but respect a company that at least has the balls to stand behind what it says.

I am conflicted with the politics but do find it refreshing when someone (corporate or individual) puts their money where their mouth is so to speak. And the choice is the consumer's as to where to spend $.

It's more than expressing an opinion, they impose their view on employees. It's intolerance and hypocrisy, the opposite of what devout religious beliefs ought to stand for. Not atypical, sadly.

Love the lamps. I shop at Hobby Lobby all the time. It's nice that they offer 40% off coupons all the time. And I like that they are closed on Sunday so the employees get to have family time.

Do you like that HL employees' lives are placed in jeopardy by being denied health benefits almost all other companies provide, based only on the owner's personal beliefs?

I love Hobby Lobby and respect them for standing for their beliefs. They shouldn't have to provide abortion coverage since it goes against their beliefs. They do provide other healthcare. Their employees are free to leave their employ at any time.

Back to the original topic, Raven, it's nice that you were able to find a few things to make your house feel like a home again.

And if the owner were a vegetarian, I guess it would be reasonable to take steps to prevent employees from eating meat.

It doesn't bother me a bit. There are so many forms of birth control that HL's insurance does cover, it seems like an intelligent woman could pick one of those. Or, if they were unable to do that, they could choose to work somewhere else. Or, pay for their own insurance, like I do.

For once in my life, I agree with Snidely/Elmer. I do not darken the doors of that place.

The people that work at Hobby Lobby like the fact that they are off on Sunday. They by and large agree with the beliefs. Chick Fillet is the same way. If they don't agree, ANY Walmart in my area is hiring 24/7/ 365, probably paying more, and you don't have to believe a d**** thing. And by the way, I am NOT part of their beliefs, but I respect their right to believe and run their business the way they want to. And yes, I shop there.

Sorry Raven, Yes they have a great art selection. We just got some silk roses for my MIL. She is in a Memory Care Unit and cannot have real flowers or glass vases. The glass will break and they are afraid the patients will eat real flowers. (It has happened.) They turned out beautiful and she cried when she saw them. Her birthday was October 26th and she was 89.

Oh Sherry how sweet and wish her the best birthday wishes from me . I would do the same thing for mom when she was in the care facility . She loved her flowers .

You can't get them much. She doesn't need anything. It was a good visit. She knew my husband and his brother. She even asked about me and my boys. The boys are in their 40's and we are not sure exactly how old she thought they were. Some weeks she can't get words out and doesn't seem to know anyone, but last week was a good week.

On another topic, I have VERY SERIOUS kitchen envy. Of course I don't want to go through a flood to get a new kitchen. LOL. You did great though.

Thanks for the compliments ! I am happy we are close to move in and very happy with the basically new house but I would not want to do it this way ever again .

Also, I fully realize this is a free country and this privately-owned company can do anything they wish. And if their employees/customers don't like it, they can go to work/shop someplace else.

I appreciate the calmness and the soft playing of the hymns that I love...and sometimes I even hum along..... I applaud them for standing up to the government who is trying to take away so many of our rights! ...good for them! Sorry to get off of OP....Raven, I love your lamps!

I love Hobby Lobby and shop there often.. Great sales and I love that they take a stand on closing on Sunday. Business owners should be able to run their businesses as they wish. I don't have to shop there if I don't agree. It's like watching tv, if I don't care for what's on I change the channel!! We live in a free country!!

I agree with Susie 53. They also pay their employees pretty well if they are working full time.
