wing chair, would it work?
Comments (15)Hi, although the price might be a good deal, I'd probably pass. I think the traditional style doesn't work with the more contemp style of all the other pcs. As mentioned, the height as well as color is going to make it waaay too dominant even though there might be little touches of rust elsewhere. If you had the club chairs with a table paired together, do you have room for another chair elsewhere? It doesn't appear to be a very large space and you just might be "there" already as far as space for seating is concerned. Oh...is this a recliner? I'm wondering what is up with the open "space" between the bottom of the wing and the arm....See MoreSurefit wing chair slipcover: Any thoughts?
Comments (6)I've purchased 3 (all for the same wing chair at different times): an ivory matelasse, a red twill, and a stretch brown that feels kind of velvety. My wing chair has very large wings, not like the smaller Queen Anne wing chairs often seen on Craigslist. I liked all 3 for looks, though the pictures for the white and red one looked like the above picture and they most certainly DID NOT go to the floor nor look as neat as the pictures. Sitting in them was another story since they needed a lot of fussing after to make them look neat. Of all, I preferred the stretchy one. The overall look was neat, it fit the best, and it looked less sloppy after sitting in it. I think Target(?) has some in their stores, so you might check to see if they have the wing chair style to try out. (I'm thinking they don't, but it can't hurt to look:)) Dee...See MoreWing Chair - Completed - DIY Upholstery
Comments (40)Rosie - Thanks! Purchase and upkeep of cars can drain the bank pretty fast. Four acres of wooded trees!...now that sounds wonderful! I would love to have a place with that much land & trees. I don't know what upholstery shops charge these days. I know that I could not ever do upholstery as a profession. I work way too slow. Also, I'm able to forgive myself if some part of my work is not perfect. If I did it for someone else, I'd stress about every little imperfection. The fabric cost alone is all that I'm willing to invest in my old furniture. None of my furniture is high end. The only piece that is really well made is my grandma's chair (the goose neck arm chair) which I will begin working on in about a week. I once kept track of how many total hours I spent on one of my sofas...68 hours (over a 2 month span). Knowing all the work I've put in to these pieces, I would not complain about the high prices the pros charge....See MoreHelp me decide if I should keep or return my new wing chairs.
Comments (48)This chair would look great, it's still somewhat formal but has curves instead of boxed corners like your sofa. I also like this rug, sort of terra-cotta and gray. I hope the link works. http://esalerugs.com/terracotta-7x10-new-vintage-area-rug-33131269 scroll down and it shows the rug in a gray toned room. Looks beautiful! eta: DD has rust highleg recliners with a dark brown more casual sofa and it looks great. You don't have room for recliners but the colors work well....See More- 11 years ago
