How many pendant lights over 36"x94" island w/9 foot ceiling?

I am looking at pendant lights with the same style as the Restoration Hardware Harmon or Benson collection or the Murray Feiss
P1145BS
Brushed Steel Parker Place Pendant. Our ceiling is 9 feet. HOW MANY PENDANTS? WHAT DIAMETER? Thank you!!!

If you search nightowls kitchen 2016 you can see what 3 13 inch Benson's look like over a 94" island (old) and a 120 inch island. (New). I think 3 over the 94 was a bit tight, but 2 might not have been enough. The 3 over the 120 seems just right for us.

My island is 58" x 105" with 8' ceilings. I went with two 13" Benson pendants. Perhaps it's because my ceilings are only 8', but I can't imagine having three of these in my space as they take up a large amount of visual space. I had considered going with three of the 7", but the consensus here was to go with the larger. Glad I did as they really do make a statement.

At 18" apart, your lights are approximately at quarter points, so personally I think that is ideal (from a visual perspective). A friend of mine has a similar size island to yours and has her lights at quarter points. She has 12" pendants and they offer plenty of light for the entire surface. I think the size will depend on the style you select. In my previous kitchen, I had a 60" island with only one pendant centred over the sink. It was perfect for us, as we also had potlights and plenty of sunlight (3 full height windows, w/ patio door).

@Porter, I didn't get the LED Edison bulbs yet-the store where we got the pendants gave me 3 halogen bulbs to see if it was better for me as I didn't like the yellow light at all. I am still going to order them when I do a Prime order to see the difference. That fixture is in a nook--off centered from the pendants--it comes with a chain ;however I am undecided if a table is going to go there or it will stay open, so had it semi-flush mounted. Does it look odd or out of place? @Beth, Right now they are 34" so when the quartz is installed, it should be about 32 33" from counter to bottom of lights. They seem high, but any lower they are going to be in our eyes.

You didn’t Indicate the height of your ceiling. With an 8ft ceiling it is a challenge because if you will be restricted to a smaller diameter. I only installed two over my 99” island. I wanted them larger in diameter, but the next size would not accommodate my 8ft ceiling. I did not want to use three, I knew that from the beginning. I wanted the lighting to be uncluttered and open. This is what I did.

how much space between the pendants. Ann, in both comments I mentioned a guide up in my first comment. I guess you keep missing it? here it is again,,,with 3 others. these should give you the needed spacing to choose pendants. while you can play around w/the distance between them, the height should be right at 30" or so, with no more than 36" from the countertop. Since you're going smaller, you don't have to do the 30" between. smaller sized pendants can be a tad bit closer 7" is a mini pendant and far too small to use over your island. shoot for 10-14"

Those look great! I am debating between three 7" or two 11" pendants. My husband is worried that 11 inches seem really big but yours look great and are even bigger.
