Actually,I am currently doing the same thing! I did put a new frameless shower door with bronze handle in the shower about five years ago. It has held up fine. Currently I am having the shower and the floor retiled. I ordered the shower head and handles in oil rubber bronze already. I don't see any problem with the oil rubbed bronze- other than they are Way more expensive!

Thanks clergychick. I've been looking in magazines and the only time I see the ORB faucet/hardware the kitchen seems to have paneled appliances. Glad that you are doing a similar mix that we are considering. Would love to see a picture when you have one available. Too funny that your 16yo is helping you recover from the matchy-match pattern. My 2yo and 4yo are still in the "everything MUST match or we will cry" stage. :)

Hi Everyone! I need some help. I have fallen in love with the look of a particular finish by Newport Brass but have heard absolutely terrible things about their product and customer service and I am not willing to spend a crazy amount of money on something that doesn't seem to be well made. The problem is, I can't find that finish anywhere else. It is a matte bronze that looks most like a brown cast-iron. It doesn't have the gold undertones that most oil rubbed bronze fixtures have. Has anyone seen another brand make this finish?!

I second paying a visit (or visits) to a really good showroom - NOT Home Depot of the like. There is no way to really get a sense of how stuff actually looks and feels unless you see it in person. Also, the actual finishes vary albeit subtly. If you want a copper finish or some kind, your choices will be limited to fairly high end brands. Copper tends to feel very traditional as a finish. My bathroom fixtures are from Phylrich and are oil rubbed bronze but they do have copper finishes as well. Phylrich My kitchen has a copper farmhouse sink and lots of copper details (copper hood, copper tiles, copper knobs and pulls and copper coved ceiling) but I opted for oil rubbed bronze faucet along with other sink accessories. Mine is a Kohler Artifacts single hole with pull down spray. I looked at various styles on the internet but then went to a showroom in order to check them out in person and I liked the way the Kohler looked and functioned the best.
