Newly Installed Floor - Discoloraton (help!)
Comments (6)The moisture from the grout has absorbed into the sides of the tile where it has no glaze. Very common in stone. Called picture framing. It should go away as it dries If it is tile and the joints were sealed it will take much longer. Grout should not be sealed prior to curing. Check with specific grout manufacturer. If the manufacturer says a minimum of 72 hours before sealing and it was sealed sooner then it is the fault of whomever applied the sealer. It's all written on the packaging which no one bothers to read.....See MoreNeed help with newly installed sod
Comments (4)Where do you live? SoCal includes Bakersfield, Santa Barbara, Big Bear Lake, Blythe, and all the zones in between. I have to warn you though, if you live east of Interstate 5 or the 405 in the LA area, I'm going to be very harsh on your choice of Marathon sod. If you are watering 6 minutes 3x per day and getting mushrooms, then you are watering about 2x as much as you need to. Try lifting the grass up. If the sod is stuck to the ground by the roots, then back off on the watering frequency. It should be fine at once a day. If it doesn't die out at once a day, then continue with that until the weekend. This weekend set out some cat food or tuna cans in the yard and turn on the sprinklers. Time how long it takes YOUR sprinklers to fill the cans. That will become your normal watering time from now on. Mine takes 8 hours but there are some high flow systems that can fill the cans in 20 minutes. With your symptoms it sounds like you might have a high flow system, so watch it carefully the first 20 minutes or so. More on watering below. I'm going to ignore the mushrooms, because they are simply a symptom of too much water. The weed in the last picture is nutsedge. You cannot kill that with a normal weed or grass killer. For that you need a sedge killer like Sedgehammer or Image. The other weeds should die out with spot spraying using Weed-b-Gon or Weed-b-Gon Chickweed, Clover, and Oxalis Killer. Herbicides should be used as a foliar spray, not a soil drench....See MoreNewly installed dishwasher help
Comments (1)One end of the ground is connected to the dishwasher already. Connect the other end to the ground wire in your 3 wire house system- a bare copper wire in the receptacle box. Think about if you hooked all the wires up to a 3 wire extension cord(ground to green) and then plugged it into an outlet. What dishwasher is it. The owners and installation manual is often available online. That may also have a diagnostic questions section....See MoreNewly installed gray carpet looks purple - Help me decorate!
Comments (4)I was thinking maybe something like a navy or lighter blue may work. I really am not a purple fan and have no purple in the rest of my house so I want to avoid that. We have 2 dogs that shed a lot so a darker shade of blue may not work well for us. I'll have to look through some inspirational photos with navy couches to see if I like the look anyway!...See Moreklem1
