Right now is when WS really pays off
Comments (1)I know. My neighbor's store bought petunias are looking raggedy already. Mine are in full splendor and going strong. I still have a tray of petunia seedlings I don't know what to do with, though. Still have a bunch of Prairie Smoke and some perennials that I need to get in the ground. Will probably do it this weekend....See MorePatience pays again
Comments (7)My first whirl at WSing blackberry lilies was in 2006 and they bloomed that first year. proudgm, some perennials bloom the first year from seed and others make you wait a year or two. If you search the forum, you will find threads on this subject with lists of first-year blooming perennials. Off the top of my head, in addition to the blackberry lilies, first-year bloomers for me (zone 7) were anise hyssop, balloon flower, blue flax, butterfly weed, carnation, coreopsis yellow sunburst, feverfew, garlic chives, gloriosa daisy, hibiscus, lemon balm, Mexican mint, monarda, pinks, primrose, Sweet William, thyme, verbena on a stick, and yarrow. Hope I didn't hijack the thread with this post!!...See MorePay off mortgage or not?
Comments (25)Wow! Thanks for all the additional feedback. You've given me even more to think about, although it all seems a little bit clearer now. whode, you are definitely right that putting the money into principal makes it less accessible. Though we are generally very disciplined, there is a high chance that we would dip into a more accessible savings account, or perhaps not be as disciplined about putting the money away in the first place. By setting our mortgage minimum (the real mortgage payment + our self imposed principal payment) we don't seem to waver much if ever. I have to think that whether we pay off the mortgage ASAP, build up savings, or do a little of both, we are still heading in the right direction. I have so many friends who discuss why you shouldn't pay off your mortgage, but then they don't/can't save any money on the side so they really aren't getting ahead on any level, are they? Thanks again. Q...See MoreWould you stay here if it went to pay again?
Comments (85)I wonder why so many folks complain about the ads and banners so much, along with things being slow to load. Have you ever tied any of the numerous suggestions that are given repeatedly to be ad free and surf GW with no distractions? Did you try different things and they just did not work, or what? Since so many have problems with the ads and banners, you might try asking for assistance at Computer Help Forum They are a great bunch of folks who will help you until you can get the problem taken care of. They would be dumb not to charge all of you now knowing that you would pay. Not necessarily. If membership would drop, then the advertisers also would not being paying GW as much to advertise here. It would be a trade-off for them, imho. I doubt many people who only post at the pets or health forum for example would pay. I think most folks have several favorite forums here. I have about 25 saved to my Favorite Forum Folder that I either post to very regularly, or check on frequently and maybe just lurk, watching for some new good info. At last! Someone remembers Spiko the way I do....See MoreUser
