Diamond is a much more flexible product line and therefor should be more expensive. Aristokraft has built its name as the affordable american cabinet but like everything having a accepted brand name just means you can charge more for them. I have several american made brands in my store that lower in price then Aristokraft and much more flexible in choice of cabinets. I have access to Aristokraft but do not promote them as they are generally not the best deal. Most of the thermofoil finishes tend to peal off over time. I personally would get a painted finish before a thermofoil. The quality of the finish between the cabinets lines is not easy to judge.

I'll chime in! We are in the process of installing, right now, Krafmaid cabinets. We have simple shaker style cabinets (Hayward, also called Putnam) in cherry with honey spice stain. This stain really is light and just evens out the tone some. We even (horrors!) got them from Home Depot. So far, they're fantastic. Truly. We had an absolutely amazing and creative KD from Home Depot. We were lucky and were able to use the KD that some friends had used for multiple projects -- after they "interviewed" probably a dozen KDs from different Home Depots, Lowe's and smaller companies in the area. She is really great and was able to know when to incorporate bath cabs in a few limited places so that the sizing would do what we wanted. I think getting a creative and experienced KD is key, and we were VERY lucky to find her. We are still installing, but have unpacked everything. We have one door that needs to be replaced due to a crack in the joint, and one with glass that the glass has a tiny crack. This is no problem and we'll just switch out those doors. All the cabinet boxes have been perfect (square, plumb, in perfect condition). Once you receive the cabs, you have 90 days to let them know of any issues. So far, our KD and Kraftmaid have been wonderful. The cabs are very solid and the finish is great. The wood is fairly consistent and we only have one stile that I would consider to be a lesser cherry than a true mid-level cherry. But it's not all that noticeable and I think is reflective of using real wood. I don't know anything about American Woodmark, but our KD recommended Kraftmaid as she said they're very responsive and easy to work with. So far, she's been right. We did upgrade to all plywood boxes, soft close on all doors and drawers, and a few other bells and whistles. I just wanted to chime in because I know KM gets bashed a bunch, but so far, our experience has been great. And they look great!

OK, just did some digging. Apparently, Artistokraft is not a series of lines, they are a line within MasterBrand Cabinets. Based on what I saw, I stand by my assessment. Artistokraft only has a 5-year limited warranty and appears to be the least expensive line of MasterBrand cabinets. My experience with Aristokraft: Other than the lazy susan, all drawers and cabinets were falling apart within a few short years. Surprisingly, the lazy susan never had issues and worked and looked just as good when we demo'd as when we first moved in almost 13 years before. However, after a few years we had to replace the hinges on several cabinet doors as they wouldn't close. The drawers did not open/close smoothly. The decorative drawer fronts on the sink base had to be reattached several times. They were painted and the paint began wearing off within about 5 years. The shelves in the upper cabs were bowing. My research: American Woodmark’s brands: American Woodmark cabinetry - Home Depot only Shenandoah Cabinetry - Lowe's only Timberlake Cabinetry - major homebuilders Waypoint Living Spaces - all others? I could not easily/quickly find a cost/warranty breakdown like I found for MasterBrand below. . Artistokraft Cabinetry - a brand of MasterBrand Cabinets. Artistokraft appears to be a "brand" within MasterBrand Cabinets and, at least online, does not appear to have other "lines". If that's the case, then if it were me, I would not get Artistokraft based on my previous experience (see above). There’s something wrong with your understanding of what a 10x10 kitchen includes. It’s just like the 20K base truck at the dealer with manual transmission, no air conditioning, no radio, a hose out interior, and not even a DOT required bumper. By the time you add all the stuff that you want, that truck is 60K. And it’s not even the high performance version. That 10x10 kitchen contains a range, a dishwasher a refrigerator, and a window in there, leaving room for about 5 basic cabinets for that 4K pricing. Those are zero upgrade cabinets. Not even toekick or finished sides. There’s no molding. Blind corners, no angled corners, or organizational aids. 30” H uppers. Furniture board boxes. There’s no delivery or install or sales tax. There’s basically nothing that anyone outside of an Section 8 apartment wants. Multiply that x2 for a standard larger than 10x10 kitchen. Double that larger size base again price for even a “basic” kitchen. Quadruple it for some nicer upgrades, like drawer bases, finished sides, usable corner cabinets, basic molding, etc. And you are still in an entry level cabinet line in AmWood. It takes 6x that 4K 10x10 to even get to an average mid grade cabinet expense in a remodel. TV renotainment shows are full of dramatic lies, but none bigger than the budgets that they throw around.
