We got pill boxes that will hold 2 weeks worth of pills. Fill them up and there ya go. No V 8 moment but I did take the wrong pill yesterday, sigh.

eld, there is a third option to consider if you don't have the correct number of pills left.....the pharmacy! Miscounting is a common error.

Ingeorgia, thanks, but I really don't want to start with the pill containers. Maybe, if they were prescription drugs. I keep the bottles in the cabinet next to the sink. I take them all down in the morning, take the pills than store them back up until the next day.

I would still count them just to make sure.

Sorry, eld....that's what I get for not reading carefully, but I would think that the chances for errors in a commercially packaged supplement container are pretty high, too.

I have found that the older I get, the more likely I am to forget something regarding my morning routine, unless it's done in the same order. It usually means going without deoderant, but it might mean my top.

My V-8 moment for supplements was realizing that I didn't have to store them in the bathroom or the kitchen. I found it easier to take them while sitting in bed watching TV, un-rushed, so I have two small baskets on my nightstand, one for AM, one for PM.

Most of those supplements are "counted" by weight. The numbers can be off a couple - and usually are! Many things are counted that way.

Having said that, more than once I have caught myself taking my NIGHTIME pills in the morning, and vice versa! I need a keeper ;).

I always count my pills each day...mornings are easy....4 together plus a "dawn soap" one I take alone and hate it if it does not go down immediately....then my "burns like Dawn" complaint and lots of water, water, water. Dinner is mostly prescribed OTC stuff, plus that "Dawn" thing....ugg, I sometimes I forget.

I fill DH's 7-Day pill container once a week. Mine, too. I'm not going to retrieve, open and close and re-shelve four different bottles more than once a week. It's also easy to see if we've forgotten. I only take a minimum D-3 and a minimum Co-Q-10, but he has one prescription med the morning. He also has one prescription med before bed; never forgets. We keep our pills in the spice cabinet in the kitchen.

Oh, gyr, my mother has the same system, bottle upside down/right side up. Her doctor doesn't like that for her age (89) even though none of her medications are life maintaining, all are more for annoying symptoms, quality of life. The last time we saw him, we stopped afterwards at Fred Meyer for daily pill reminder containers and she didn't want them. I bought new for myself anyway, thinking I could show her it was not just her who may not remember...she assumed I was buying for her and threw a little fit right in the store. Sigh. She's still doing the upside down on the counter.

I think I did not explain my post properly. I thought it would be fun to share ideas of things that makes things easier, an idea that after doing something one way, now you realize that it is so much easier to do it another.

My V-8 moment is almost too silly and embarrassing to admit to, but I'll tell you anyway. I love the soft cushy feel of those thick rubber pads by the kitchen sink but I hate the look of that rubbery material, even with the pretty designs they print on them. I just love a "real" fabric, soft, warm rug. So one day at a friend's home, I noticed that she had a real rug placed over a soft cushy (rubbery) pad and it was a life-changing moment for me. Okay, so yes I'm embarrassed, but since then (quite a few years ago) I've had a nice, real soft, warm rug under my bare toes with a beautiful, thick cushy soft pad underneath while I'm at the sink (we don't have a dishwasher here at the summer cabin). Yay!

When my granddaughter was little she used to slap her head like that V8 commercial LOL. Her mother had to work hard to get her to stop that. She picked it up from her favorite uncle (the troublemaker).

Well, that didn't take long.

Fish oil capsules is a supplement. I believe that large bottles of this are filled by weight and may not have an exact count of capsules.

A few years ago we were hosting a celebration open house-there was a blizzard lurking and it had snowed quite a bit the previous few weeks so there was a good amount of mess and now around but travel was ok. I normally do keep a nice house, pretty up on cleaning etc. Well I decided that while I would certainly clean and plan for the party but it dawned on me that due to the weather etc the floors would probably pay a price. So I stopped myself from being ocd about cleaning the tile floor( the entry and kitchen and most of the first floor)........and I was so relieved. I knew I would have my work cut out for me after ( and I did, but was so tickled with myself for the realization).

Well you did say it might be obvious to everyone else --- so there you have one of my fine moments of clarity. It's the litte things right?

I had never heard of a V8 moment before. Learn something every day. Anyway, lately I've been starting to prep for winter and decided I should get my vehicle prepped the way I used to do my trucks. I was watching some videos on what other people have to compare to my own checklists. Most of the videos were geared more toward survival if lost in the woods or something rather than if you get stuck, dead battery, etc. One thing I thought I should have in there is some matches and have looked at stores for a carrier I saw. Nice little unit, had the waterproof match container with a compass, a whistle, a striker and a lanyard for a few bucks. Thought it would be a decent idea although I didn't really need everything. Didn't see anything at several stores and then it hit me just last night: I have a bunch of prescription med bottles and vitamin bottles. What better carrier for matches? You can see through to see what's in there and how many, can tape/glue some sandpaper for a striker. And might not survive immersion in water but if the glove box is under water, I don't think I'll be looking for matches. And who knows, it might just survive being dropped in a puddle anyway. So that part is checked off from the need to buy list. Saves money, saves time, reuses an item, keeps an item out of the landfill or more likely going to recycle, and it's satisfying to have a simple solution even though the explanation is lengthy!

And I won't go into how I handle taking pills!
