What kind of window treatment would you do here?
Comments (23)mtnrdredux - thanks for the pic, that looks great in your room. How was your experience with Smith and Noble, I've never ordered from them but was considering for this treatment. Les - Thanks so much! I like the idea of a wood valance to hide the shade. So the valance should be wide enough to cover the top piece of trip completely? I'm going to discuss this with my husband as I think this will give it a clean look. Thanks for the link Chris. Julie, thanks for the tip, I think it would be so much easier to just take the cranks off or look for a smaller size. They are a pain! springroz - I'm in between the solar shade and the cellular shade. I like the insulation the cellular will give as well. We got all of our romans from jcpenneys and they were very reasonable during one of their big sales. Annie - are your shades bamboo? I would love to see a pic. Jeannie, you place sounds lovely, do you have any previous pics to share? Yaya - your link takes me to JCp's blinds but not sure which one you were referring to. cliffandjoann - thanks for the pics. I love the way the solars let the view shine through. Do you have direct sun through that window? I'm wondering if they do a good job reducing the glare? Thanks everyone! Right now, I'm leaning towards a wood or fabric valance and roll-up solars or the cellular shades. I know the cellulars are great for insulating, how about the solars, any insulating benefits? Also, do the solars reduce the glare or do you think I'll still be squinting once the sun hits this window?...See MoreWhat kind of rug is this? What rugs would work in close proximity?
Comments (13)Hi Boopadaboo, sorry for delay, we were on a exhibition. The "fancy" triangle rug is a nomadic design. I am not sure if i understood you correctly, but if you need two more rugs + the current navy blue rug then i would NOT recomend to keep the frame colour same as the inside field colour on all three rugs, it could get too old. I thought you was just talking about 1 more rug to add to your current navy blue rug, here then you would had to pay more attention to build a harmony. The one with the big "fancy" triangle is a very interesting original design, but it could be to much for this pupose, but i am not sure. The last one, the runner looks nice, could match with the blue navy, the cost of it is not so high as it is syntetic, so you also dont risk so much. If you would pay more for original handmade rugs, then you would need advices of the local rug dealer. If you have further questions, bring them up. Comments (13)I agree with the layout of 2 sofa's L config facing the lake and FP. I would also add the 2 lower chairs by the slider. The chandelier needs to come down lower. It would help define the LR space and make it more intimate. Although you have high ceilings, which is great, but making it more intimate and welcoming is the goal for living in them. There is no way you will distract from the beauty of the windows and the lake. From an aesthetic point of view, the chandelier will not win against Mother Nature. From the outside IN, it would be beautiful to see a chandelier at night. Functionally, however, it is lighting the second floor and the ceiling. If it's that bright to light the downstairs, then I can't imagine how bright it is upstairs where someone maybe trying to rest. I would drop it or consult a lighting expert as well (who will probably tell you the same thing) It can function better....See Morewhat kind of artwork would look good here?
Comments (8)Kelly, you have two posts going. This one, and this one, below https://www.houzz.com/discussions/6028008/what-kind-of-artwork-would-look-good-here I'm showing your this because of the blacks/grays/whites tones, the pillows, and the art here are some examples. for this I would do a frame, but the neutrals tones work w/your sofa since you have the pink pillow, I gave you this one, but I'd prob have to switch out your table lamps. maybe bring in slightly diff pillows....See More
