Dreambuilder - I went through many of the same thoughts as you. I do prefer the feel of water jets over an air bath. I seriously considered a Sanijet but had concerns after reading of another GWer having to replace motors... after having leaks! (in my install detecting leaks would be difficult). Then I saw one in person and was put off by what looks exactly like a drip tray underneath the tub. The Sanijet person I was working with denied it was a drip tray but couldn't give me a satisfactory reason why it existed. So I turned to investigating the ozone methods of disinfection several whirlpool tub manufacturers have implemented. I decided to go with a Neptune whirlpooltub. Their ozone disinfection begins after the tub is emptied and the ozone is injected directly into the tubes... unlike most manufacturers who inject the ozone into the bath water to be pulled through by the running jets. I'm a nerd and read several ozone studies before making my decision. I will also use a product that claims to prevent a biofilm from forming. Not as easy to confirm this will work due to the proprietary compounds in the various products. But I know it is possible, given the right ingredients. I did consult with the inventor of the product I chose and he sent me some of his data as well as confirm there wouldn't be a problem combining it with ozone. Now, I can't tell you if I made the right choices yet... my bathtub has been sitting in my living room because the bathroom reno was delayed - hopefully a mid February start at this point! Whether you ultimately choose a whirlpool or an air tub, if you can, try to sit in a number of tubs to find what fits you best. I'm lucky to live within an hour's drive from a tub showroom that boasts to have over 400 on the floor! While there I also discovered that with my hard well water keeping air injectors open and de-calcified could be a chore. Good luck!

Ginny, I have recently invested in an Aquatic Airjet Serenity 2, but it is not yet installed. The most that I can personally tell you is that my contractor guys sat it out on the patio to test it for leaks, and we all stood around smiling watching the 'effervescent bubbles' fizz. It passed the leak test and "it works!" test with flying colors. I took pictures ... it was a milestone in my remodel... something worked! Just kidding. :) I will tell you what the friend who recommended Aquatic to me said however. She loves it. Said the bubbles sensation from an Airjet are amazing, very relaxing. I have heard that the blower on an Aquatic is fairly quiet; that the water bubbling makes a greater sound than the blower. Also the '600 Watt Air Heating System' that comes with the product insures that you feel only WARM air entering the tub. Someone who has another product posted that the air entering her tub was cold and she would have preferred not feeling that sensation. However, important to me was not having to be concerned about bacteria from water circulating through the tubes that sometimes occurs with a hydro jetted tub. Although there are cleansing tablets that you can use to clean a jetted tub, I did not want to have to remember to do that. Airjets only use a blower to blow air into the tub, causing the "champagne bubbles" and then after use, a blower comes on to 'dry out' the system. In your case, you would like a hydro-massage, as well. I have heard only good reports about Aquatic, which is why I puchased, and the Infinity Series offers both. I don't think the cleansing issue is a big deal for conscientious people, I just don't want to be conscientious anymore. :) In another month, I hope to be able to give you a personal recommendation. I'd greatly appreciate some help with a decision I'm getting ready to make. We are building a new house and planning a separate shower and jetted tub in the MB. The problem is I have no personal experience with the tubs. I should also mention I live in a small, rural area with no showrooms nearby. We did find a shop selling Aquatic tubs about 50 miles away, which we went to see. They had 4 or 5 models on display, but they were above our price range in the $4000 to $5000 range. What I've discovered from my online research and from some catalogs I've picked up is that there are "air bubble" tubs and "whirlpool" tubs, or a combo of the 2...so I think I'd like to have the combo. I think the MAAX Living, and Aquatic Luxeair both have the combo of features, but I'm sure there are others. I'm asking for your opinion for performance and value on combo tubs. I'm looking in the $2500 to $3500 range. What brand/model/size do you have? What are the pros and cons? I'm also taking into consideration the amount of water they use. I hope you've got some words of wisdom for me. I'm feeling the pressure with so many decisions to make for the new house, and now I'm stuck on the tub. It will soon be time for the plumber to start...and I still need to pick the tub.

I am planning a tub/shower combo (with a shower curtain, not glass,) but my husband, a big guy, tells me he wants a air/jetted tub. What I am worrying about is that most of those tub seem to have a contoured bottom — is it safe to stand in a tub like that when showering? Do the jets/nozzles get in the way? Does anyone know of a large tub with jets and/or air that would work well in a tub/shower combo? Is anyone with experience with this willing to give me advice or suggestions?
