Thanks for your plan cottagewithroses! I had originally thought that I didn't want to put the washer/dryer there because the windows are low and I thought that changing the windows would look weird on the outside. But if I want to move the hall back to it's original position it really makes sense do what you did. If you look at the picture of the outside, the mudroom doesn't really look like that much of an extension of the sunroom as I originally thought. I think that since the roof lines are different it can work. I looked at my measurements and the mudroom is 103" deep (front of house to back) and the total width from the exterior door to the center hall is around 210". The width of the sunroom minus the hall door space is 112" (whole sunroom width is 152"). We would like to fit the bathroom in a space 57" (deep) by "whatever" since there is an existing exterior wall that would divide the bathroom from the hall. So, in the same space that cottagewith roses put it but with a shower if possible. I would like to open the kitchen or dining room up to the sun room more but am not sure if it will be french doors or just a big opening trimmed out. I can picture the kitchen being really open to the sunroom and putting a banquet in the back corner of the sunroom. We'll probably keep the kitchen/dining room separate because of the fireplace between the two rooms. FYI the front left room will be our living room, the front right room will be our library/music room, and the middle room will be the dining room.

Went to Home Depot this morning and looked at some granite and silestone samples. Has anyone here used them for your countertops and if so, how was your experience? We have a stone yard about 2 hours away where we purchased our soapstone for our kitchen but we went through a local renovating company that removed our kitchen countertops, plumbing, etc. This company closed about 6 months ago, which leaves me wondering about getting someone to remove all the old first. I do know Home Depot can do that? Any thoughts?

Your laundry/mud/bath is a similar layout to what I have, except I have a tub/shower in that bath. A laundry setup like that doesn't leave you much storage, or room for ironing, folding, or hanging, so keep that in mind. I have to do my ironing in my bedroom. I also don't have a utility sink, to make room for extra cabinets. While a utility sink would be great, I do have a kitchen and bathroom sink close enough that it's not a big deal. And the way the rest of that floor is played out, it puts that bath really far from your guest entrance, office, living room and dining room. You mentioned a downside being that guests will walk through the mudroom, but remember that they will also have to go through your kitchen to get to the bathroom. I'm not sure I'd like that. BTW, you might as well forget about the door between the kitchen a mud room, as it will almost always be open. We changed ours to a cased opening instead of an actual door. I'd have preferred to go with a pocket door, just in case we wanted to be able to close it off for some odd reason, but we didn't want to have to tear into the wall to do it.

I meant to add that the bath will stay to the left as in the drawings and walls, windows, and door locations can be moved. The only thing that can't be changed are the original 17' 9" x 7'9" dimensions of the area.
