I
went to Sams Club this evening and noticed they had been rearranging
their stock. I could not find the peanuts. In the usual place was
cashews (at increased price). I Roamed several isles, but no peanuts.
Well ok, I'll make do with a can of mixed nuts until the peanuts
reappear. The price on a can of mixed nuts was almost $15 - Yikes!. At
that price, those will stay on the shelf because not long ago, those
were much less.

rounded the end my favorite snack isle and there it was, A CHRISTMAS
TREE, by jingles! Next to it was colorful ribbons and wrapping paper. NOooo. It can't be. I'm getting old too fast. Had I missed Halloween?
Has my internal clock stripped a gear? Its too much for me to fathom. I
felt like bursting out in song, "Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Yuca bucks . .
. ." I'm losing it fur sure.

What a great idea! How about if we just roll all of these holidays into one. Go ahead and put up that Christmas tree. You can set a jack-o-lantern right under it and enjoy all the beautiful lights as you eat your Thanksgiving dinner.

LOL. Costco has had their Christmas items out for weeks! Right next to the Halloween candy and costumes.

Well, my patience finally paid off. I stopped by Sam's today, and they had their fall bulbs marked down to $7.01 with plenty left to choose from. They still have daffodils, tulips, hyacinths, irises, anemone, allium, etc. I opted for a box of 45 Hyacinths, 15 each of: Jan Bos, Delft Blue, and Carnegie and one box of 15 Jan Bos Hyacinths and 40 Jetfire Daffodils. Let me know if you find anything you can't live without!

Big box stores typically put the plants in a second clay pot for balance and appearance. The plant was grown in the plastic pot. It is no problem to leave it in the second pot except that the medium will dry out slower, therefore needing to be watered less often. As for how often to water, check out the FAQ and look for the pencil / bamboo test for when to water. I think that a Phal is considered a beginner orchid because it grows in conditions that are generally close to other house plants and can be grown as a non-blooming house plant pretty much any place you put it. The difference between an orchid and prayer plant is that we expect the orchid to bloom. We don't even think of a prayer plant blooming, but it can it it is treated right.

Our Sam's doesn't have anything in yet... I hope they get something other than Red Lion, though... I already have 3! Nice score, though... the red blooms would look good in a big black ceramic pot.

Hi Anne_in_SF, I have seen your comments in various websites regarding stainless cookware recommendations and would like your advice on a few I'm considering. Member's Mark Tri-Ply, Costco's 5-ply by Kirkland (I don't think it's tri-ply or 5-ply up the sides) and another set from Costco, the Sitram Profisserie set. I'm moving away from Calphalon hard anodized to stainless and don't want to pay for All-clad or Demeyere. What are your thoughts if you're familiar with these sets? In terms of aesthetics, I like the look of the Kirklands set the best, but I'm looking for quality of materials and cooking performance, I cook a LOT.

I want to see the Halloween/Christmas mashup display. A witch driving 8 tiny reindeer, Santa amid hanging bats, a snowman made of fake lighted jack-o-lanterns, oh the imagination goes wild!

I was out shopping today and found the same thing..stores with Christmas on one isle, Thanksgiving in front and Halloween one over. I think the bottom like is we all have ENOUGH and the stores know it. They are DESPERATE to sell to any impulse they can find!!

If you have little ones, the Costco Halloween costumes are made sturdy and beautiful. They will last for years.

I saw saw the first snow tire advertisement on TV last week. Christmas snow is around the corner!!

In MN the snow season started 2 weeks ago so a snow tire commercial wouldn't be out of place. And for years now, retailers have started putting out Christmas stuff right around Labor Day. That started about 15 years ago when the economy was going to pot and retailers wanted to get the Xmas bucks while people still had money to spend. Strange to see but it worked so now it's the norm.

Kind of chuckled to see this post. Bought some battery powered Xmas lights at Dollar Tree over the weekend.
