Comments (9)Thanks folks. This gallery side seems to have died recently. Dan, I'm thinking of moving that Eskimo Pie since it kind of deteriorated a bit last year and I've heard it's hard to grow. I would put it in a bit better light to see what happens. Since I like the coloration there, I was thinking of putting a reasonable size Great Expectations there. What do you think? Margaret, I'd love to see pictures of your garden. I see you are in zone 7 - the tropics to me. When I moved here from costal zone 7 or 8 I found that many of the plants I'd grown before couldn't take the winters. I have only a couple of T roses now and the fancier climbers didn't work at all. I'm happy with the much hardier Explorer Roses. I don't prune them until spring and then it's mostly what damaged or dead or in the way of something else. That John Cabot needs to be tied up properly, maybe this year. The William Baffin is right in the line of fire where snow and icicles fall off the roof. I'm happy that some of it survives ok....See MoreSix Months Ago - 6/19/09

Cowboy I see you posted a pic of El Nino on the alphabet thread, how do you find First Frost compared to El Nino? Are there noticeable differences? Myrle I'm glad you were able to get back on. Hopefully you'll be posting pix soon....See MoreSix months today....
Comments (7)My sincerest sympathies. Your gift to the college is commendable. I have found in the two years that my son and granddaughter have been gone that the positive things I can do to keep their memories alive really give me comfort. My fellow teachers and PTA members donated money for a beautiful magnolia and garden bench in the school yard with a nice plaque dedicated to their memories. I smile each time I pass it. For the last 2 years on Dave's birthday, we have donated money in his memory to his high school. This year, we are giving money to the zoo for room and board for two tortoises (his favorite non-extinct animals). The last 2 years for Millie's birthday, I have donated books to her school library. The librarian (whom I've never met) has been very sweet, sending me photos of Millie taken in the library. She puts bookplates in the books I send, noting that they are given by her grandparents in Millie's memory. I think these types of positive memorials really make us feel as though something positive is happening, keeping their names alive. It still is never close to enough, though....See MoreSix lookers in almost six months;what to do?
Comments (35)If I visited that site looking for homes in your area, I would skip it completely because it is not user friendly and does not offer all the search options a buyer wants. That could be part of your problem right there. I agree. In another post I said it was a vanilla search with no search options and it looks like it only lists their properties like C21 does. I do think this agent may be hurting her sale. Going with a larger firm with better features gets the listing to more places. I wouldn't consider extending with this agent. In this market, sellers can't afford to waste time and need to go with the best they can find. My plan is to talk to our present realtor and get a list of the houses that have sold in the last six months, tell him we need weekly calls to know what has been done to sell the house in any week, ask him appropriate questions on roselvr's list, tell him we need new and better pix and listings in the Pueblo paper, etc., etc. He IS a great guy, but I agree we're not getting what we should be getting at this point Since the contract is up in a few weeks, you can try to get him to change out pictures, fix the description and maybe post on craigslists, although I do not see him paying for enhanced listings at realtor.com. Id give him these last few weeks to sell it; then move on. Selling a house is business, not a popularity contest. While he's knowledgeable in the area, he may not be doing enough. I am a firm believer that the future of real estate is realtor.com and the agents that want to survive are going to have to use it. Think of all of the people that relocate from another state. Without an enhanced listing, finding your property is a royal pain. You have to go to google to find the agents web site, then since there is no advanced search option, you have to sift through listings until you find it. As Sparksals says, too much of a hassle, you would get passed over. I'm in the same boat as you are - 4 showings in 3 months; in my case I do feel my agent is hurting us. We've made the decision to switch; we're also going to put new counters in the kitchen. questions on roselvr's list If you are not close to a military base, leave those questions off. In our case, it worked to our advantage because I found out that someone that works on base is an agent in the office I'm considering switching to. One agent I saw said he doesn't advertise in the paper but would consider it after I mentioned that some older people don't have computers. I have an 84 year old neighbor that has a bi level and may be looking for a rancher which is what we have. Thank you very much for all your help, roselvr. Don't know what else to say, you did so much. Thanks again. You're very welcome....See Morebrettay
