need help with 9x7'8 bathroom layout

7 years agolast modified: 7 years agoI have a 6.5x9' bathroom remodel and the way I have laid it out feels spacious for our small home. It has a custom made 18x36" vanity with a large sink and a few mini drawers and shelves. Beautiful and the crown jewel of the room. I have a tall 15X15 tower in a corner, another free standing cabinet along one wall, and a counter height cabinet at one end of the tub that is on the 6.5' wall. All custom cabinets with pull outs.
I agree with @roarah, that you wont be able to have both a tub and separate shower. The placement of the window and the door is critical to your layout.
Why don't you draw up your floor to a scale, on graph paper and post an image of it for us to look at. Here are some examples of my layout attempts. I made scale floor plan with door and window. Then i cut out tracing paper scaled to size room elements and moved them around on the base plan. Very helpful for me. I took photos of each one. I have more but didn't want to bore you :)

Toilet is seen easily when the door is cracked, so this layout was eliminated. notice in the upper right there is a small square, that is where my tower is, so I drew it on the master plan, because that was staying no matter what plan I chose:

Comments (12)Hi Kate, thanks for your comment! I smiled a lot when reading your idea of encouragement to pee in the shower ;) We could hang a big sign there. But if it is not directly noticeable: we separated the guest-shower from the guest-toilet because we would like to have a window in there. We expect that guests will use the toilet more often than the shower. I tried "Sweet Home 3D" to visualize the ideas but that tool somehow shows a window very similar to a door. So I added another plan with more notes in it. In the new plan I changed the direction of doorway for guest-rooms and laundry; but we havn't consider pocket doors yet. Your questions: 1) It's meant to be a window :) 2) Yep! We can change plumbing, walls and size/position of laundry room. 3) Master Bedroom is located far away... on the left bottom corner. 4) Guest area will be 5m x 3m, but it has a "-100 cm level" (which needs a staircase). Comments (1)Here’s a pic of the space - originally a bedroom that will be converted to an en-suite main bath. The window is awesome, but are removing it and extending that wall out to absorb a small “patio” area (it’s great for letting light into this room and hallway, but that’s about it). Would plan to add a skylight in that window area instead. The overall footprint available for the bathroom is 16’ L x 11’ W. The door will go on the side the “photographer” was standing, and we’re hoping to create a little closet that side as well (ie, between the bathroom wall and bedroom area the “photographer” is standing in)....See MoreTiny and awkward bathroom. Comments (2)The best bet to keep costs down is to leave your plumbing where it is. So you won't be appreciably moving the fixtures. First, find out what's in the wall where you'd like to move the door. Then find out why the shower is 3.5" lower than the rest of the floor. Once you know those 2 things, you'll have some idea of what is possible. Then you need to decide what the main use for this bathroom is. If it's basically a powder room that happens to have a shower, your approach will be different from what it would be for a full-use bathroom. For a full-use bath, this is what I'd do: if possible, move the door over consider boxing in the ceiling pipes if possible, raise the shower floor get rid of the framed, glass shower door. Consider replacing either with a curtain (inexpensive and easy to clean) or a an unframed glass shower enclosure (expensive) do the entire floor including shower in the same tile decide if there is room for a vanity instead of a wall sink. If not, determine where other storage space can be created add more and better lighting add an exhaust fan...See MoreBathroom layout help needed
Comments (3)I lov e a tub but if ther eis one somehwere else in the house and you don't want a tub then do not try to squeeze a FS in there . I like tub/showers with a nice deep soaking tub but i need more info as to your ream bathroom . The space is a decent size I think the door changed to be outswing would make a big difference in the space and often a bteer choice for bathrooms for safety. I don't like sitting to apply makeup so that is a thing I never use I aslo think bathrooms are a bad place to store makeup. The elevation is not going to be possible as shown if the shower is bigger than the tub.Moving the tilet is an expensive undertaking and sometimes almost impossible .. I also do not think a really huge shower is paractical since keeping warm in the shower is must.I would start by finding out if the tpoilet can be moved without a huge $$$$ outlay. 7 years agoHere is a double vanity with a shower tub combo. I put a bench at the end, I envisioned it with a storage pull out drawer and pretty cushion top but the space might also work with built in tall shelves too for storage.
This is what I thought might be nice at the ft of the tub.

7 years agoHere the vanity which can be 6 instead of 5 ft is under the window I like this for floor space is larger but you can only place a mirror over one sink essentially.
