Rooting florist's roses from cuttings...

...can it be done?

I came across some cut florist's roses today with the most divine lavender colour. I don't know their name, but they seem bluer than my Blue Moon (at the moment, at least). I rather grow something than simply buy it and put it in a vase, so I bought a bunch, clipped them into cuttings, and placed them in soil especially made for rose cuttings. Some of my cuttings are in the greenhouse, some are in my south-facing windowsill. Some were dusted with a growth hormone, some weren't. Any further tips, or is this venture doomed to fail?
