Comments (5)My personal opinion of the all-male strains is that they aren't that major of an improvement as to merit the excess trouble and expense. I'm personally very happy with my old fashioned MW, and I like the bonus seedlings that pop up and I can then transplant to enlarge the patch. I know others here who do like the all male Jersey strains, and the production yield differential would no doubt make a difference to a commercial grower. I bought an ounce of MW seed 3 years ago for $7.00 and ended up with over 200 transplants, sowing the seeds about 3 per large cell pack. They should make their first real crop this year. Hard to beat that many plants for $7 plus the cost of the potting mix to fill the cell packs. I'm not quite sure I understand your question, but I guess you're saying that you ended up with 9 female plants (berry producing) out of the 10 Mary Washington roots you planted. I think that would just be random chance. It is an open pollinated, seed grown strain, so there wouldn't be any "culling" of plants based on gender, as the grower wouldn't have any way to tell the difference in plants young enough to sell to the consumer anyway. If you ended up with 9 out of 10 of one of your "all male" strains actually being female plants, I'd say yes, you were probably "ripped off" -- maybe not intentionally, perhaps the crowns were actually MW that was mislabeled by accident or something....See MoreQuestion about double decker coneflower
Comments (2)I purchased a double decker coneflower this spring too. I have one blooom that is going to be a double decker this season. But I have read everywhere that you don't normally see double decker flower heads till the second season. Fingers crossed I see more next year, they really are unique!...See MoreIs this really how a Professional Painter operates?
Comments (6)Butter, Was there a signed contract stating prep-needs, priming, etc.? Were any references checked? How was this painter brought to your attention? What brand/color of paint was ACTUALLY used? SEVEN GALLONS??!??!?!...Krikey!!! That's ridiculous... For 250 sf: * Gray primer should've been used under 98% of Reds. * This would've taken ~ 2/3 of a gallon of primer. * The paint: about 1.5 gallons should've done it...applied as TWO FULL ROLLED coats. >>> A normal 12'x14' bedroom with 8' ceilings, & subtracting out for an avg. window & door = 400sf. >>> 2 gallons would be average to do TWO COATS in this size room. Deep colors MAY take slightly more paint, since these tint-bases are less full. >>> If paint is pushed too far past 400sf, it's getting WAAAAAY TOO THIN. >>> The rate of 400sf/gallon is the absolute high end most paints should be applied at. Were you ripped off...YES. Were you "hacked".....YES. Faron...See MoreFrench Door Pricing - did I get ripped off?
Comments (7)Just be sure that you have the right to cancel, if this is what you decide to do. The 3 day Right of Recision may only apply if the sale at your home was initiated solely by the Seller, and not at your invitation. This law may vary by state and any decent company would allow you to cancel in any case, but I suggest you just read the small print....See Morethe_first_kms2
