We had a similar situation and wanted to hide all of our electrical cords, so purchased an Ashley Furniture Glen Eagle Accent Cabinet that worked beautifully. You can "Google" and see what it looks like. (I had trouble posting the pic.) Even though Ashley Furniture is not considered by many to be one of your better furniture dealers, for something like this, that you are going to use for storage and to house your cell phone chargers, etc., this is perfect. And it really is a nice-looking piece that complements our other furniture. I can't remember exactly what we paid for it, but it was around $300, has lots of storage space. If that doesn't interest you, Overstock.com has a wide array of accent tables and consoles, many for $200 or less, and you can't beat their shipping charge of $2.95. Good luck!

As big as your house/rooms are, I would never place a large piece (last picture) on a wall that small. (Wouldn't in a smaller house either.) It's going to take awhile to fill your home, so don't be in a rush. That leads to mistakes, sometimes costly and non-returnable mistakes. ;D I think you need a really good game plan on what you have now, where it will most likely end up and what you want to purchase... then the order you want to purchase (or at least smaller groups). Measurements are important. Pictures, samples to take with you. iPad might come in handy for pictures (larger than iPhone). When my parents built a new home in the 80s, they moved from large house to large house, but things just didn't go. Having been in the business, they went to furniture market - three times - (Dallas and NC) to furnish with high quality casegoods and antiques. Rugs were purchased locally or brought over to show in home from ATL. It was like Christmas at least once a week for the next year. We've been in our house almost 7 years now, and it only became finished (in my eye) this last year. Don't be in a rush to hang pictures either. I waited 6 months in some rooms/areas.

Wow, pal. I like all of those. I do think the first is too big because it pushes both dimensions. The Kindel is beautiful and I think the size would work. Traditional, classic. But, holy cow, the legs on that Century. I'm thinking the TriBeCa finish? Hmm, I just noticed the front view of the Century really highlights those legs. Wonder if the side view would be as appealing. Maybe the Kindel would present better from the side? I'm going to check both of those options. eBay has some really nice pieces too. Funny, I noticed most of what catches my eye is Stenella. Usually the deminsions don't quite work though. All of this is a little dangerous.

That's pretty. But I've resigned myself to the dimmers and a nightlight. What I witnessed last night with cat behavior around a table so close to the front door made me realize the danger of losing them to a quick dart out the front (and we face a very busy street), should they spring to the top of the table and out the door, or worse, somehow manage to hide behind the table and then make a break for it. We watch them very closely when we're coming in and going out. They exhibit some mild curiosity as to what's "out there" beyond the front door, but so far there has been no indication that they're going to try to find out for themselves. They generally just move on back when we tell them to get away from the door, but I can see how a piece of furniture so close to the door would add confusion and possible "cat intrigue" into the mix. It's not worth it. I think I shall entitle my memoirs, "Cats: This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things." ;-)
