Liquid Fabric Softeners gunking machines?
Comments (45)I am currently having a problem with mites in my washing machine. Yes mites. I clean regularly and just literally think I'm losing my mind. I've thrown everything out of my house including furniture. I am having a devil of a time getting them out of my washing machine. I have done a lot of research and tried several things. I have found that vinegar (red apple cider by White House) kills them on contact along with hot water. The mites were nesting in my washing machine and spreading when I washed clothes in it and now are all over everything. They spread fast apparently. Sooo I've poured 2 gallons of apple cider vinegar all over the top of the drum and cleaned under the crack down in the lid where it bends with a tooth brush an the vinegar and no Clorox didn't work. Tried that. I've changed my washing habits. Only use Borax and Vinegar in my washing machine from here on because I have teenagers and there is no telling what is at their friend's homes. So I prefer these because they actually kill germs....See MoreSpuma di Sciampagna Marsiglia - Laundry Softener
Comments (28)hcj1440, Vaska unscented still contains lavender extracts for it's cleaning and disinfecting (I assume). It does not contain additional lavender scent. There should be no scent really when items are dry. There is barely any when I dry mine with the lavender version. I pulled this from their site: Herbatergent uses natural herbal cleaning agents to fight germs and remove soap residue that damages fabrics and causes skin irritation. Laundry stays brighter, lasts longer, and feels softer. Here is a link that might be useful: Vaska Herbatergent...See MoreShaklee Fabric Softener FINALLY arrived :)
Comments (23)@vala55, it sounds to me like someone is "confused". Your statement makes me think of the Basic H2 product. What they say is that it makes "water wetter". This is how most surfactants work. Surfactants lower the surface tension of a liquid. This allows the product to clean better. Unfortunately a major problem with MLM is anybody can sign up and they don't have to be the sharpest knife in the drawer (I'm being polite here) so crazy things get said and done. I take huge issue with people who post misinformation. As for the quality, everyone is entitled to their opinion but mine is different than yours. I have nothing to gain here by my statements I just really enjoy the Shaklee products that I do use. Shaklee is the number 1 nutritional company in the US and they've been around for 50 years. They must be doing something right. Using their cleaning products is more about choosing products that are safer and greener as well as supporting a company who "gives back" (ie. off sets carbon emissions, plants one million trees, donates supplements to disaster victims, etc ...). No one said they would work better than what you've been using all your life. They are "better" choices that work. If you choose to support P&G, Reckitt, whomever with your money - that's your choice. Maybe making better choices isn't important to you so you cannot justify spending a little more ... I don't know. Maybe you do make greener choices but find cheaper "green" brands work for you ... who knows. You have not really said what products you are comparing to. In fact, you haven't even commented on whether you have used the exact product being discussed in this thread. I have used it (as has the original poster). It sounds to me like maybe you take issue with a MLM business. In which case, that's your prerogative but please don't post misinformation....See MoreFavorite Liquid Detergent
Comments (135)Just coming back to this -- I missed the posts to me above! I have a Bosch FL now, but the new house has a Samsung HE TL. I don't use fabric softener at all (I'm one that views it as a horrible invention, LOL -- I do use vinegar sometimes). I'd love a SpeedQueen, and was hoping to get one in the new house until we discovered they were leaving their washer/dryer behind. Oh well. (Our buyers requested ours, and I was more than happy to leave them behind.) I started washing in warm this past week, and realized what my MAIN problem is: I don't sort! I never have. My husband keeps his whites in a separate basket, but everything else gets mixed, and washed on delicate/cold. If I buy something new that's red, it gets washed with jeans and a Shout Color Catcher, but after that, it goes in with the rest of the stuff, washed on cold forevermore. I'm washing my kids' stuff now on warm, no Color Catcher. I hope it comes out OK! There is a new pair of bright blue corduroy pants in there that were washed on cold with a Color Catcher last week... I hope the color doesn't run! I'm going to have to start sorting, aren't I. I do use the dryer, but not for anything that says to line dry or dry clean. I dry everything on low....See MoreAlex Chicago
