Where can I find daylily 'Debbie's dream'
Comments (3)It's listed at Peace On Earth Gardens for $8 There are several "Debbie" "Debi" "Debra" and "Deborah" cultivars (I'm a Debra too so that's why I've looked). You can find them listed on Tinkers or at Dave's Garden. Here is a link that might be useful: Peace On Earth...See More~~~~~~Queen of the month~Debbie~~~~~~
Comments (39)I'm here! Finally I'm here! I really didn't take my gifts & run off without returning gifts to each of you. :) I want to first apologize for my slow response in thanking you all. I'm so, so sorry that I wasn't able to get on here & thank you sooner. It wasn't because I didn't appreciate your gifts. I absolutely did. As some of you know, I have rheumatoid arthritis. I usually fight it & only have a couple of days at a time when it keeps me down. Most of the time I'm able to function fairly well. Every once in a while I have a major flare up that knocks me down completely. When that happens, since I live alone, I need help with simple things like getting in & out of bed, etc. I don't like imposing on people more than I have to. So instead of asking family to come stay with me during that time, I go stay with one of them. I just got home 2 days ago & opened these remaining boxes yesterday. Monipsych/Monica sent me: 2 Cross stitch kits, one floral & one of teapots. Tiger Lily Bath set which included body mist, lotion, soap, bath salts & sachet. A Pretty teapot tart burner with 4 Yankee candle tarts that smell wonderful. 2 mini wind chimes, one for St. Patrick's day & one floral bell. A thermometer for outdoors, a teapot picture frame. Some tulip bulbs & lots of seeds for planting. Thank you Monica for nice things. Earthly Delights/Maryanne sent me: A very pretty Thomas Kincade gift set. It included the decorated gift box which contained a mug, tea, bon bons, cookies & a diary. She also sent me a lavender bath set which consisted of washcloth, shower gel & body butter. She sent me some yummy goodies: Cookies, chocolate almonds & cinnamon roasted cashews. Some note cards & a prayer card was attached to the birthday card. Plus a big, fat chicken with wind chimes hanging from it. So cute!. Thank you Maryanne for the wonderful box of gifts. ggwrn/Ginger sent me: A pretty garden flag, 2 pot stakes which are a fairy & a gnome. A cute bunny pot holder & easter egg kitchen towel. Then LOTS of pamper me stuff! 2 bath bombs, green tea lotion, 2 pacs of foot scrub, foot lotion, 2 facial pacs & a bath pillow. Thank you Ginger for the wonderful gifts. Dawiff/Alison sent me: A pretty teapot spoon rest. A cute fairy on a daisy. The daisy is big but shallow so I think it will be perfect for a butterfly water bowl. A beautiful white wall sconce. A pretty tea light burner with a bag full of tea-lights. Plus 10 wonderful smelling Yankee candle tarts to burn also. Thanks Alison for the wonderful gifts. Hummingbird Daisy/ Tina sent me: A hummingbird garden kit. It has a 8" hanging basket with potting medium & seeds for hummingbirds. Thanks Tina for the nice gift. Once again I'm so sorry for the late thank yous. Dawiff & Earthly Delights have been in a year long swap with me before. Hopefully they will vouch for me when I say I have never been absent this long before. I try to be a good swap partner & post thank you notes promptly. I try to send nice boxes out early in the month. I just couldn't help it this time. Please don't think I was intentionally being rude & thoughtless. On a brighter note, I mailed my April & May boxes today. So Monica's might be a day late & Maryanne's a day early....See MoreDebbie Downer.... :(
Comments (13)Scott, you did not say what varieties you are growing or where they came from. Are they started from cuttings or rooted plants? All those factors make a big difference. Look to 'Divine', 'Cal. Sunset', 'Thornton's Lemon Drop', 'Kimo', and 'Penang Peach' (probably many more -- others can advise) for eager bloomers at a smaller size - or bloom better in a shorter growing season. This is VERY important and I can't emphasize it enough. I've tried many, many varieties. I purchased several that looked good 'online', but when they started to grow 2 feet in one season and still didn't bloom -- out they went to the compost pile! But probably the biggest thing is 'patience grasshopper'. These plants bloom in their own time. You must let them grow. You cannot expect immediate gratification. As plant growers, we must all learn that....See MoreDebbie B, Carolyn's upgrades
Comments (23)I would not hire a GC nor a KD, but that is me. A GC is great for some things but very possibly overkill for what you are doing (since you are doing in stages). I did not hire the IKEA KD, what I did was measure the area where I was tearing out, then go to their site and determine what I wanted/needed that would fit in the space. Wrote down the item numbers, went to the store, had one of their sales folks input everything in the computer (which gives you the shopping list), then went downstairs, gave it to the order puller and waited while they gathered stuff up. That took an hour or so, then paid and had them help load stuff up (I drive a pickup truck). There were a couple of items they did not have in stock and I had to make another trip to the store to obtain. However, I am the daughter of a carpenter! and I also have been sewing for years, so both give me some experience in 'putting things together'. A very good, smart, follow instructions handy person can put these together, I was dating a guy who was retired and looking for some "projects" to stay busy, he said the first cabinet was slow, but after that the others went together quickly, Honestly, he is not the smartest guy on the block! I plan to put the next ones together myself (we are no longer dating either). If you are not making drastic changes to the kitchen, i.e. removing/changing walls, rearranging the plumbing, and if you have the ability to either work with design software, the IKEA kitchen planner software, or even just graph paper and good dimensions, I think you can come up with a design. Get the folks on the kitchen forum to look it over. Good measurements are VITAL!. Find a good handy person and try them out on something other than your kitchen, you will need someone to rip the old out, assemble the new, install the new. You will need a good handy person for your other projects. The same guy (Tom) did most of my other projects, both bathrooms, the back deck, but not the add on room (son in law did that), the front deck (paid someone), seal roof (paid someone). Keep in mind it would be great if you could do the kitchen floor at the same time you do the cabinets. I did not have to pull permits to 'replace' stuff in the kitchen, but you can call or look on-line to see what are the requirements in your area. But then, I live in the country, not within any city limits. Took more pictures earlier (with phone). Will load on computer tonight and post then, got to drive to county seat and purchase new vehicle tags, and pick up five year old after school (25 mile round trip).CMM...See Morecaroline94535
