Our mean snowfall is 31.3 in. the high temp in July of this year was 90.0 and our low temperature for January was 18.6. Snowfall distribution is affected both by availability of moisture and by elevation. Annual snowfall totals in North Idaho have reached nearly 500 inches in the past. The greatest long-term (1942-56) seasonal average was 182 inches at Mullen Pass(which is over 5100 Feet), while the greatest snow depth (also 182 inches) was recorded at that station on February 20, 1954. The major mountain ranges of the state accumulate a deep snow cover during the winter months, and the release of water from the melting snow-pack in late spring furnishes irrigation water for more than two million acres, mainly within the Snake River Basin. I desperately need the taste of fresh figs on my tounge. My question to you knowledgeable people is...Are there figs trees I can grow here?

chrisms, While there are some figs that would be too late, they're not in the general nursery trade. I'd only worry about choosing a late fig if I were requesting cuttings from UC Davis. Although the nursery is sold out for the season, I'd recommend looking at Paradise Nursery's offerings of fig varieties to get ideas. Just as a side note, due to the way figs keep producing fruit on new growth, you'll almost always have some fruit that doesn't ripen by the end of the season. What's important is that your tree gives you enough before the end of the season.

I did put a bid on the OTHER Sal's fig BEFORE I read in this forum that this dude is a scammin' fool. I'd rather not deal with issue-ridden folk...too much stress...life is way too short! I am pretty new for fig grow, this year is my first yeat to harvest fig, I have one Petite Negra, 3rd year, got 4 small fig, slowly riped, at the same time, my chicargo hardy also the 3rd year, show up more fruits and riped quicker, My best fig is the one from North China, fengtai beijing fig, also, year 3rd from bareroot. The tree produced a lot of huge sized fruits, very juicy, start harvest every day starting the end of August. Still have a few to pick, I feel like the ripe depend on the temperature, one day hot like 80 degree, the fig size is boosted, I have to pick it otherwise, the bird got them. I am going to write down the ripe schedule next year for reference. Wendy
