How much do you tip your hairdresser?
Comments (38)Tracey! LOL! You would have had to see what it looked like before to really appreciate what is changed. The red had faded to an ugly rusty looking mix of strawberry blonde and yucky roots and I had come to the conclusion that is was cheaper to have the hair returned to some normal shade of blonde than it was to replace about 40% of my entire wardrobe that was various shades of pink, red and purple that I could no longer wear with the red hair. The operator did 3 sets of whole head foils, putting in low lights, base color and blonder highlights, then he cut it in a more managable style (lower maintenance, I no longer have to spend 40 min styling it before i can go to the bus stop) and I was pampered with latte, biscotti and great conversation during the entire 3 hour process. I'm not sure it "looks" like a $300 "do" but it looks MILES better than it did when I went in and I can now wear everything in my closet again! I have worn pink or red EVERY single day since Sat! Comments (31)Interesting topic. I have had a single lady do entire house by herself. She left b/c it made more $en$e for her to work in a team and I was also growing tired of having her for several hours in my house. The parting was on good terms. Have had teams and the upside is there here and gone in no time, but when teams change b/c somebody gets fired, sick, etc., I always notice things out of place or cleaned unlike I specified. New people in teams = retraining and I really don't like having to be on constant watch to ensure consistency. But overall, I think a team is best, as mine has insurance if something is broken or damaged. Nobody does my laundry, makes my bed or cleans fridge or oven. I hired them to dust all, vacuum, polish furniture, clean windows, fans, cabinets and doors every 15 da. Will give them a little extra if I have visitors, in which case they do make that bed, and whatever extra is caused by the visit. Used Home Advisors to get my latest cleaning service. On an unrelated subject, I once recommended my cleaning service to a neighbor that turned out to be a sleaze ball and they didn't pay the lady for 3 months. I was mortified that I hooked her up with the slimeballs, so I doubt I will recommend anybody to avoid this kinda stuff....See MorePoll: You Have 10 Mins...You or Your House?
Comments (44)auntjen - I never heard that joke, but I have to share something similar. I am a teacher and a substitute who is also a friend mentioned she saw someone that knew me. She couldn't recall his name. After asking her what he looked like and anything else she could tell me about him, she frustratingly says, "You know...the blind guy!!!" I sat there for a minute, wondering who do I know that is blind. The only person I could think of was my roommate from college's father, but they live 2 hours away. So, I said to her, "I don't know anyone that's blind from around here." She says hysterically, "No, he's the blind guy, he was at my house measuring my windows." I knew exactly who she was talking about. We cracked up for quite some time. To answer the OP: I'd throw on a bra (I clean in the pjs too!) and baseball cap. I could care less what I look like for someone I don't know. I'd probably grab an empty laundry basket...if I can find one, and throw anything that is left out, (which is usually a lot in our 1500sf shoe box with no basement and 3 kids 4, 7, and 10) in there and toss it in the playroom. Comments (27)Your house looks very, very tidy Ttodd, and beautiful, of course! A toy here & there adds charm, imo.You work outside the home, have little ones, pets, & are very busy... you're doing a really great job! Be proud of yourself. Your little sweetie drawing on the floor (well hopefully not ON the floor!) is adorable, btw! Look at that gorgeous head of curls! Wouldn't need to do much if anything before taking a pic as I have zero tolerance for clutter! I'm trying to be like Ttodd! I work hard & consistently to have a place for everything & to keep everything in its place. My keys don't even touch the kitchen countertop...they have their own space in a drawer that they go into pronto! My sunglasses may sit out for a few minutes after I walk in. No mail sits out for long. Nothing. I just can't stand it. I'm home full-time so I clean a fair amount too. My kitty forces me to...she's a mess! Guess I'm afraid if I don't stay on top of things I'll have gigantic, irretrievable chaos on my hands, so I just nip things in the bud asap. Wouldn't want my kitchen photographed while I'm cooking though! Yick. That can get pretty messy. You wouldn't be able to see the forest for the trees! People "cooking" in magazine shoots & on TV never produce this kind of disorder! I remember seeing a photo ages ago of Suzanne Somers, blonde hair bouncing in a pony tail, licking something frothy off of a mixer beater, getting just a bit of the fluffy whip on the tip of her nose. So cute, so Suzanne. No pictures like that could happen while I'm cooking! Every night of course, I spend at least a half hour cleaning the kitchen after dinner, like most Americans. When are they going to come up with self-cleaning kitchens?...See More11th street productions
