Afternoon Sun Only Is This Ok?
Comments (2)In the northern half of the country, the summer sun is not as bad as it is here so some afternoon exposure will work on sun-tolerant hydrangeas like the paniculatas. Over here in the South though, the leaves in direct contact with the sun would fry and scorch... no questions asked. Should you happen to notice that the leaves in direct contact with the sun are not doing well during June-August months, take appropriate action....See MoreHow much sun can Incrediball Hydrangea tolerate?
Comments (11)All things being equal, yes, you can try growing it in containers. The catch is that large containers get large/heavy and some garages are tight in the space department. Big containers are also a pain to move around, especially something like a half of a whiskey barrel that is full of potting soil. You may need some whiskey to move the darn thing. Ha! A solution in some cases may be to put the container in "rollers" full time. I am lazy and have no helpers when aid is needed to bring the heavy pots into the garage or the house in the Fall so, having the containers already on s-t-r-o-n-g rolling plant caddies year around is useful....See MoreAfternoon sun only OK for Blue Girl?
Comments (2)Any rose does well with afternoon sun as long as it is at least 4 hours minimum. 6-8 hours is ideal. The only problem I see is that some blooms will fry or bloom too quickly with intense heat. It all depends on the rose itself. I do not grow blue girl, but I have blue moon. Which is similar. Mine gets full sun from 1 pm to sun down. The blooms last a few days. But I'm also in a colder zone. Maybe some one in zone 7 will chime in....See MoreInvincibelle series in afternoon sun only?
Comments (11)Yeah, we are starting to get to the point where I have to turn on the sprinkler and drip now. Temps keep getting to the 85-89 range so I hear you when you say you do not want to water. One question, where did you say the baskets are located? I see something that looks bird related?...See MoreColoradoLime - Zone 5a
