Comments (18)I've only watched season 1 of dexter...pretty good. It's odd when I find myself cheering for the serial killer...there's something attractive about characters possessing extraordinary traits and yet exhibiting weaknesses or vulnerabilities. Hence the vampire craze, perhaps. Q - I'm a really bad reader and rarely venture outside of genres I'm used to, which happen to be alternative reality fiction, near-future science fiction, anything involving supernatural things (clearly I have a problem with reality) and other social commentary related works....with that said, I almost ALWAYS enjoy what people have recommended me even though at first I'm always apprehensive over things like autobiographies and historical fiction. I like the direction this thread is heading so I'm going to shamelessly steer it towards that direction. Favorite reads, everyone? Anyone? Comments (5)About Jewelry Television, I bought a platinum 3/4 carat diamond ring several years ago and paid 500.00 for it. Had it appraised and it was appraised in Atlanta area for 1,600.00. VERY HAPPY!! Then I saw another one on JTV (Platinum diamond ring) but the size was wrong, so I wanted them to size it for me... I ask them to size it and they ruined it... I sent it back, INSURED and they gave me a run around about how they had not received it and when I told them I had sent it INSURED, then they told me they did not take rings back after they sized them. I then went to my credit card company with my complaint and got my money back. They had made the ring band so very uneven and thin I could bend it. Fair warning---do not have them size anything and do not believe every ring can be sized. Especially platinum. I never bought anything else after that and before I was a good customer. Buyer beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have shopped HSN, SNBC and QVC with absolutely NO problem, EVER. Comments (4)I can't speak to 4K TVs (which, btw, are often referred to as "UHD", not just "HD"). But most HD TVs available for the past 8-10 years or so have not done a good job displaying non-HD (or SD [Standard Definition]) content. The aspect (high-to-wide) ratio is different so the TV typically ends up remapping the display some to fill the screen as much as it can. This is very similar to changing the definition on a computer screen (essentially the same reasons). It's not clear to me whether you're discussing TV stations or all non-HD content. If you're trying to play videocassettes or MP4s through the TV, it won't look good because these sources don't have enough display information to look high-definition. You might try changing some features on the TV. Try changing the aspect ratio, perhaps accepting black borders on the screen rather than trying to fill the screen with the lower-definition signal. Let's call it an "annoying, unwanted nickname" that for whatever reason is disliked. Your name is Allison, you hate being called Ally, and your siblings do so when they want to annoy you. I think that's what's happened in this thread. I didn't make up the issue, it's there. I pointed out that it was odd for a local to use it. Those making a weak and childish effort to be annoying by insisting on finding multiple instances of use (that everyone knows about) are welcome to do so. It's not particularly clever but the word doesn't bother me. Call me Ally if you want. Like most people around here, I don't use "Frisco". If you want to, go ahead.
