OK, who has ordered a fridge that doesn't fit into your kitchen?
Comments (14)ingenious way to get a big fridge through a doorway - without removing doors or handles! I am in the process of remodeling my kitchen and just moved 2 fridges (side by side) through smaller doorways Here's how: Move the side of the fridge with the door hinge about 2-4 feet away from the outside of the doorway--enough so you can open the door of the fridge Put a 4 wheel rolling dolly under the fridge OPEN THE DOOR OF THE FRIDGE With the door open, Roll the fridge part way through the door way, rotating it as needed IF IT IS A SIDE BY SIDE, OPEN THE OTHER DOOR OF THE FRIDGE THAT IS ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE DOOR Roll the fridge the rest of the way through the doorway, rotating as needed. There you go!...See Morenew cabinet chemical smell
Comments (8)I feel for you! I bought 2 inexpensive cabinets to stack in a hall niche outside a tiny bathroom. The idea was to provide storage for towels, TP, soap, cleaning supplies, etc. Although they looked great when assembled, the cabinets absolutely reeked of formaldehyde and/or glue, to the extent that I worried about keeping them in the house. Fortunately, they arrived in the summer, and I put them out on the deck in the sun (lying flat w/ doors open) when there was no chance of rain. Quite the PITA. After about 3 weeks of off-gassing in the heat (first time I've ever been thankful for temperatures in the 90s), the odor had decreased considerably, but was still slightly detectable. The cabinets are now installed in the hall and loaded with everything I wanted to store, except towels. Wouldn't want to put anything in them that might pick up the odor. It likely will take a year or 2 before the cabinets have off-gassed to the point where the odor is no longer detectable. These cabinets were no bargain!...See MoreNew quilt came with foul chemical smell and damp
Comments (9)Your vendor's statement is one of the more creative pieces of cow pies I've seen in a while. Textiles can be coated with a finish to make the manufacturing process easier but it's something you can feel and doesn't have much odor. If the quilt arrived wet with a chemical smell, someone spilled something or the box leaked. Chemical smell is pretty broad. Did it smell like gasoline, lighter fluid, or cleaning solution? Any evidence of spot cleaning on the quilt? If it smelled like petroleum, I'd send it back. You don't want that in your washer. If that's not the smell, you could wash it yourself to be sure before using it. Cotton processed for garments or home use doesn't have any odor. I've come across some artisan dyes (not industrial) that have an odor when wet, but the item wasn't meant to be used as bedding. Most quilt makers will launder all fabrics before use in a quilt top whether the fabric is new or recycled. If that cotton went through variant temperatures it would be dry or frozen or growing something because it was wet when you got it....See MoreSalon chemical smell in kitchen and house
Comments (2)Thank you for the reply. It was here long before the new dishwasher. The water heater was replaced in 2020. With our move in ready home (haha) we have replaced everything minus the stove. Most everything is new since 2017 including furnace, ductwork, new fridge due to wildfire evacuation, new dishwasher, new floors, one new shower etc etc. Now onto the septic. I thought it could be a mat I was using in the kitchen, but it has not improved with removing it. It is such a strong smell and I can't pinpoint it. Opening windows doesn't solve it and most windows were open all summer. We installed a new a/c unit, but it was here before then. I fear it is some sort of mold or issue in the walls or crawlspace, but after we had the carbon monoxide scare and subsequent inspection to find the source (water heater) we know at that time the crawlspace was bone dry and no signs of moisture or mold. It is just odd it would start all of sudden this year and has lasted months with no obvious source. I can't imagine it would be flooring off gassing as the kitchen floor needs replaced, but hasn't been yet....See MoreLakelovin
