Wintersown but doesn't look like what its supposed to be
Comments (3)Thanks. I feared as much. Now I am wondering if the mail-ordered seeds were mixed up, if I mixed up tags or if something destroyed the helenium that should be in that spot. It's one of the plants I was really looking forward to seeing grow. Oh well....See MoreDo Western Redbud Seed pods make a mess or explode like gunshots?
Comments (2)Lawd, I remember when I heard my first Wisteria explosion! Amazing! I don't know if the Western Redbud behaves the same way as the Eastern, but we have to pluck a mess of redbud seedlings out of our perennial beds every year. No big deal in the lawn where they can be mowed down. Hey, Cuz'n Lucky! Did you get hit by any of that snow?...See MoreIs it supposed to look like this?
Comments (6)You can always let clematis sprawl on the ground or over low growing groundcovers. I do that myself with some clematis and they do fine. It is better however that they grow on something rather than the bare ground since being in contact with the ground makes it easier for earwigs and other nasties to get to the flowers and chew them to bits. If you want to collect the seeds and grow them out then allow the flower heads to remain. If you like the decorative effect they give the plants similarly leave them. If neither of the two foregoing comments apply, then whack the plant back and either train it on a structure or allow it to remain growing on the ground!...See MoreNeed Plant ID: So Cal Tree with green bean-pod-like seed pods
